102 countries buying SPFL rights and they're only getting 10 million over 6 years? I know Scottish football is beyond shite, but it surely can't be that worthless?

It'll be worse when these countries realise its Association Football we're playing and not some Gaelic hybrid.

You can't polish a turd.

Tell you what, ask you're classroom monitor to also Google the EPL deal. The 5 BILLION pound one. And compare that with ours. A professional package versus an embarrassment.

The EPL is growing due to the TV revenues. Is the Scottish game? No but our game is now nearly as valuable (over 6 years) as the guy the bheggars just brought on loan from Man City. Who's that? A nobody just like our game.

We'd be better doing away with it all and letting every club do their own TV deals. We would certainly benefit over the next 6 years.

You do get that Anthony, dontcha?

"You have made a clear grammatical error above (which I underlined). I'll leave it at that mate, maybe someone else could spoon feed all the details of TV deals and how they work to you. Maybe check what Nixon said. Or else maybe write to Doncaster and hopefully get a reply to find out what he says about your big statement which you (assumed) will work out correct if it was tried.

Could we not just tell them to do one and just show the games on Rangers TV. We are going to get our kick off times dictated to us by Sky/BT without getting a fraction of the cash the BPL get.

Drastic change is needed we could put games versus the tarriers on pay per view and make more cash than that TV Deal.

With the Champions League about to become a closed shop there needs to be a solution talked about with countries with similar issues.

An increased TV deal as we're about to return...

Sounds no bad but actually. £10m over 6 years is only £1.7m a year and spread over 12 clubs is only £139k per club a year...

probably not £139k per club ?  can see the tims getting the largest amount and a trickle down to the rest ?:disappointment:

Ok, you and Sket can send your replies to my pigeonhole - the bin

I've seen the full cost breakdown of the current deal (available on the internet)

To say this deal is a disgrace, without having seen the above^ is quite foolish and a bit quick to jump the gun, but hey ho. Oh wait they haven't seen the breakdown of this deal either which is "improved"

The deal is a disgrace when you add in how many Bears pay a subscription to Sky/BT.

Even say we get 200k, at an assumed £400 average season ticket price we're getting the equivalent of 500 season tickets worth of money out that TV deal! Absolutely pathetic!

Could we encourage an extra 500 or more if they knew the only chance of seeing a game was if they turned up? Also some more folk might buy a season ticket if nearly all the games were guaranteed sat 3pm kick offs, rather than the uncertainty of games being shunted around at short notice.

Another benefit would be our deranged friends on the other side of the city would have less ability to be faux offended.

Of course there's benefits for us being on the telly, but you could almost argue the case that we'd be better off without it.

still not showing in new zealand or australia - 2 of the bigger markets i would think. i really dislike doncaster, put him in the category as jim spence !!

Not worth bothering about these two markets.  Scottish fitba is so rank that most antipodeans would rather watch Live Sheep Shagg  shearing on tv.

This whole story gets even funnier if you look at it from the other direction. Instead of looking at the average money each club will collect, look at how much each of the buying countries values the Scottish game.

They're being very careful to hide which countries are included in the new deal and which were in the old deal but, taken at face value on the shit they are trying to shovel: £10 million from 102 countries, over 6 years, assuming the same number of live games that were negotiated for show in China by the same agency (58 per season) = an extra £284.50 per game per country:belm:.

Aye. That really shows how successful the Scottish game is worldwide:brokensfa:.

Most embarrassingly of all, apparently they are showing the games in Brazil. Do you think they tell them it's meant to be football?

More likely tell them its Candid Camera or Takeshi's Castle.

Regardless of the Beaks negotiating skills, the price is what people will pay. You can hype and try to sell it up all ends but SPL has limited market value.

Like the old car that you think is great, it is only worth what someone will pay. Apart from some homesick ex pats, where is the appeal of SPL?  Irn Bru is worth more abroad than our football ATM.

You cannot compare Scotland and England.........in football or money terms. Apples and Oranges guys.  The money that EPL gets is unprecedented out of this world stuff. We are still playing football in the street compared to that. It is also evidence of a great divide between product and investment, one that parallels our Nation as it happens.

Once the 4 or 5 Old Firm games become regular again, decent money will return from TV.

Not when the current deal doesn't run out for another 6 years. We could make more money broadcasting the games ourselves than we are ever going to make with the current deal.

You can't compare the SPFL and the EPL no but how about comparing it to super league which has comparable viewing figures. Super league clubs agreed a five year deal worth £200 million, £146 million of that goes directly to the super league teams. £14.5 million is spread amongst the Championship clubs, that's the second tier for rugby league. You heard that right, the second tier of rugby league get paid more than the new deal for Scottish football.

That must mean the super league has massive viewing figures over Scottish football right? Well the latest super league viewing figures I could find is for 2015. The highest viewing count for a match was Wigan v St Helens with a count of 237,000(only two matches broke 200k) which was equal to the Aberdeen v Celtic match this month. The Rangers v Cowdenbeath cup match had 244k viewers ffs, with the Rangers v Hibs clash hitting 273K. When you compare the viewing figures between super league and Scottish football how in the fuck do they make 20 times more revenue from Sky than we do?

I first read this as £10 million a year, and thought that it was not a bad deal, but not worth shouting from the rooftops about. Then I noticed that it's £10 million spread over 6 years. That's not worth the effort someone put in to get that deal, if indeed anybody put any effort into it at all.

We really, really, really need to get out of this deal, and start marketing games ourselves. Surely we could get ourselves, and possibly Scottish football, a better deal than that, couldn't we?

All the Rangers bashing, that was done in 2012, and the sending us to the bottom league of Scottish football, has really fucked the game up in this country, but those bastards will never admit it. I bet you now, that if the clubs were given the chance to do the vote all over again, there'd be a very different result, even the tims would vote to keep us in the top league, they might even be able to re-open some of their closed stands once more...

You are aware as part of the league rules you can't negotiate yourself? You over hype our importance as well, to get anything for games in many of these countries is a bonus. Our games have as much appeal in these countries as a hockey Mach between two teams in Bangladesh has in Scotland, outside of the U.K. and the aging expats no ones interested in Scottish football -and never will be

I realise we can't negotiate the deal ourselves that is part of the problem, we have the biggest support but no say in how the game is run that is why I have said that drastic change is needed.

As for making more than the current deal with our support we could easily make more than the crumbs we are being offered at the moment.

You think we would get much more?

Put it this way. How much would Sky/BT pay for the rest of Scottish football excluding us? We are, the only sow in town and it was due to SDM's craven paternalistic mindset that we refused to strike our own deal and instead gave away our rights. You only have to look at what the broadcasters have decided to show in the last 4 years. I'm sure RFC could easily command £5m for tv rights in fact Id go further and ban every media organisation from our stadia. We will see what sky are made of once that happened.

Could Rangers not come up with some sort of deal, say they pay a fee to allow all of our games to be shown on Rangers TV then charge a little extra for a subscription, we could make good money off it and fans get to see all games.

I doubt this is even possible or maybe not even legal but the current deal does nothing to help Scottish Football.
