Superb to hear that he's buzzing for it and understands he could become a hero

I think that's what it's all about at his age. He's scored goals at every level but now he a) wants to win things b) play more often and c) if he achieves a and b then he becomes a hero. He has one last big go at this and he is able to make a smarter decision. I have no doubt he could still score goals for a Palace or a Wolves or a Newcastle or Leeds etc. Fuck put him in the Chelsea team and he'll score more than Morata and Giroud! People also need to understand that he had a few personal issues (obviously the Bradley passing) but when he was ready Wilson, who is his main competition, has being doing some special things. He is the future for Bournemouth and possibly England too. And even when they play two up top they have a different type in Josh King. Then you have Fraser and Brooks doing some pretty impressive things as well. I'm not too worried about his lack of games. He still looks in great shape.

Clint Hill is a hero after appearing in one our worst teams! Can you imagine what Defoe could become! He's probably mates with Niko too but Niko's legs had gone. And whilst I understand the concerns based on us being stung before, Defoe is a level above your Beattie's, Ostenstad's; Gayle's, Jeffers' etc. He also clearly looks after himself. Never an ounce of fat on the guy. All things considered, on paper, we would struggle to find a higher calibre of player we could realistically bring in.

Defoe is 36. Davis is 34. McAuley is 36. Wallace is 31, McGregor is almost 37.

Good players, but is this really a squad for the future?

It’s not about the future mate.  It’s about winning the title this season.

We will ignore the 14 under 29 and 7 under 23 Cause we have some experienced players ffs

We need a squad for right now mate.  I'll take winning the title this season if it means losing the next two.

Fuck the future mate our only concern right now should be stopping 8 in a row

Then we can start thinking further ahead.

As far as I see the priority is about the present not the future

Guy is a model professional, looks fitter and leaner than plyers 10 years younger, read somewhere about his vegan diet and regieme, Morelos is number 1 but having Defoe around can only benefit everyone with his experience etc

We don't need a squad for the future, we need a squad to ONE league title no matter the cost

Morelos could be a Support striker for him, the guy who does all the donkey work and creates chances for himself too.

Shagger has 3-4 years easy, Wallace won’t play for us again, McCauley was short term, Defoe and Davis are loan signings, you also choose to ignore ages of Arfield, Goodson, Katic, Borna, Grezda, Middleton, Morelos, McCrorie, ffs talk about being selective to make a point.

There needs to be a range of ages in any squad.

Meh. Wallace is barely part of this squad. We've got 4 old cunts and everyone else is a good age. It's fine. The average age of this squad will be fine.

Kenny has 7 in the league.....

Naismith has 8

Boyd Rinsed it last year.

Defo is a better finisher than them all.

I have high hopes but also remember the high profile flops.

We have needes someone to just focus on scoring goals.  This man does that. Hopefully its a huge sucess

It's a squad for now! We've been crying out for a bit of quality in the side and Defoe has that quality. Davis knows what it takes to win trophies and his experience will be invaluable to the squad. McGregor has been great and McAuley a decent backup player. A good mix of quality and experience is always welcome
