Another Leicester player who hasn’t made a first team appearance. Gyamfi.

The 18-year-old is out of contract on June 30 but a host of big hitters are chasing the right back including Arsenal and Manchester United.
Rangers are plotting another raid on Leicester Cityafter joining the race to sign highly-rated youngster Dennis Gyamfi.

Gers snapped up left-back Calvin Basseyfrom the Foxes on a development fee – and are lining up a similar move for his former teammate, who plays on the other side of the defence at right back.
Gyamfi is out of contract on June 30 but a host of big hitters are chasing the 18-year-old right-back including Arsenal, Manchester Unitedand Feyenoord.

Rangers gaffer Steven Gerrardhas been tracking the youngster for 18 months – and made an unsuccessful bid to sign the kid last summer

He’s looking to go back in again having already persuaded Bassey to snub several English sides in favour of a move to Scotland.

Gyamfi has yet to make a top team appearance for Leicester but has regularly featured for Steve Beaglehole’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2 alongside Bassey.

The youngster is looking for first team football though with his path to the Foxes starting XI blocked by Ricardo Pereira, James Justin and Daniel Amartey.

Gers are hoping the Bassey deal will help persuade the defender to join his pal at Ibrox, as the pair also made the move to the Midlands after playing together in London.

Gerrard is in the market for defensive cover with James Tavernier the only recognised right back at the club following the departure of Jon Flanagan and Gyamfi – who qualifies to play for Ghana and Holland – fits the bill.

Anyone think we could afford Mendy from Leicester? Good wee player bought to do the impossible and try and replace Kante. Hasn't really worked out for him there but he's available on a free transfer.

Based on what 4 goals for Swansea?

4 goals in 11 games in the championship isn’t too bad a record and  he was the star man when England won the youth World Cup whilst Ojo never made it off the bench that tournament. So yes he is a step up in quality from ojo.

Can't say too much because it's just media speculation atm but there's no way we can be signing folk like that and expect to stop 10

Even if they are top talents

We need winners. Ready-made folk.

No football right now, ergo no income. How are you going to buy ready-made league  winners?

We've obviously got money, we just spent 3-4 million on Hagi.

There's plenty better options out there than kids from Leicester and Liverpool. Don't insult your own intelligence making a case for those types of signings.

These kids are not going to win us the league right now and no one expects them to. They are the future possibly.
Surely being able to bring on your own young talent is the intelligent thing to do.
How would you feel if Billy Gilmour was able to step into the team right now?
To only look at the short-term will kill you in the long term. Surely your own intelligence can work that one out.
Who would you sign that would win us the league next season? No, I didn't think so.

Neglects the fact we rarely give youngsters a chance even from off the bench. We signed Hastie from Motherwell who in the previous 6 months had made a good number of appearances for them chipping in with assists and goals. Rather than start to introduce him from the bench we simply loan him out. Same with Middleton who had made a number of appearances last season he is also loaned out. We also here periodically how good the youth is now but either that’s complete crap or else Gerrard is not willing to give it a go as we have the lowest amount of minutes for u23 players in the league.

So the signing of Bassey and proposed signing of his teammate is a waste of time. It’s also damning of Auchenhowie that we are buying players for positions that we should have been developing for the last 3-5 years. The fact is there still seems no clear path from the reserve squad to the first team which must be galling for them given the amount of mediocre dross we have signed .

Tbf it’s a similar type of signing that the taigs made with Ping Pong and he’s done well for them

He’s utter pish. Completely exposed against us twice. Don’t buy into the media hype.

We need 3 quality nailed on first 11 signings.

CM

RW

CF

If all we’re getting is more youths and squad options like last summer then why bother turning up.

Agreed. We definitely need a strong spine in the team and that’s not going to be built around youngsters learning their trade.

We need some tough fuckers that won’t stand for wee Broonies lassie like pish.

With no season ticket money, match day revenue or corporate income for the forseeable future, I would be surprised if we are in a position to make more outlays like this unless players are sold for decent money first. Its tighten your belts time for most clubs. I think there will be a lot of loan deals and free transfers.

What happens with Morelos if we need a first 11 cf? I think we need  striker but only a backup if Morelos stays, I agree it needs to be a high quality backup who can challenge Morelos for the jersey though.

You say that, but we have a fairly strong spine to our side barring an experienced CM to replace Davis.

Even the taigs take out of contract EPL players, look at Frimpong, Dembele, Boyata for examples.

We haven’t had much luck with them, but if you identify the right talent you will win a watch with one of these boys. We’ve got to back Ross Wilson to be able to spot them

Love watching that programme a Place in the Sun. Folk are asked what their minimum requirements, ie location, no of rooms, pool, views etc. Love it when the penny drops that they need to be more realistic and either lessen their demands, go for a house with what they want but in need of renovation,  or more often than not need to up their budget.

Transfers are the same. If we wrote down our ideal it would probably be strengthening 3 to 5 positions with 1st team starters. I doubt our budget allows for that. Weve offloaded those we can at the end of contracts, and will probably try to loan out more but I dont expect much by way of sales of squad players as the market wont be what it was. So our budget isnt likely to increase unless it's our top players moving on which brings it's own risks.

So we'll probably buy a couple or bring them in as free contract signings, loan in a couple, and bring through several of the youths. Hopefully this all improves the 1st team and squad. It needs to. But its not an easy job, and without the needed budget it's about making no more mistakes and maximising every deal. I like the way we hear nothing til announcements are made and hope this continues through the summer when the transfer window opens.

It's a decent start, I'm sure it is only the start and several more 1st team ready options will arrive.

😎🌞

Just for some perspective.  Our turnover in the last financial year was £53.2m. £32m of that came from gate receipts and hospitality.  60% of our income has gone for the forseeable future. That is a huge hit to take. I think we need to be realistic about signings.

60% of our budget hasn’t went we’ll still sell out season tickets, infact with the new retail deal I don’t think we’ll be much worse off if at all

I always wondered why this mythical Liverpool connection seen us hit with absolute nonsense like Ejaria and Ojo.

If this connection was that good we’d have been looking at maybe taking Harry Wilson at the time etc.

Brewster is probably the one where u think that’s decent. Still no 100% sure of loan signings anymore though, we always get burnt with them
