Man City are currently a fantastic team but are they really close to Pep’s Barcelona?

Not a big fan of the hypotheticals but I’d say the quality of the midfield tika-taka triangles and passing with iniesta, xavi and messi linking up will never been seen again but Man City are just the best currently.

Aye, because, Real Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal etc etc all spend buttons on players.

Real Madrid are spunking £35million on a boy from Brazil that they canny even get for another 2 years. Man United spunked £90 million on Pogba, £70+million on Lukaku and McGuire, look at a list of Chelsea highest ever signings and you’ll be lucky to find a good signing, Arsenal spending £70million on Pepe.

I'm fed up having this argument.....it's almost as if Man City are the only team in Europe that spend lavishly on players.....Man utd have spent ridiculous amounts of money for very little return, Chelsea lately have spunked stupid money and are miles off winning trophies....City may not be everyone's cup of tea but belittling the success because they have spent money is just petty

This is the net spend of the last 15 CL winners over the last 10 years. City have a greater net spend than the last 3 winners combined.

City have spent more money than any team in the world over the last 10 years, and the only clubs that come close to their net spend are Utd and PSG, who have both been terribly run, so it's to be expected they win at least one Champions League.

But when they spend, they spend well, that’s the point, not many of their big signings are bad signings. It’s Barca/Chelsea/PSG/United etc’s own fault that they’re spunking 100s of millions on shite

Barca have won 3 CL's in the last 15 years, Chelsea have won 2.

That must say a lot about City if they're behind all these teams who have spunked money on shite.

City have a tonne of bad signings in there, just because the last few years have been good doesn't mean they only sign well. Philips, Cancelo, Danilo, Bravo, Nolito, Moreno, Torres, Angelino, Otamendi. That's about £250-300m of signings in the last 5-6 years.

And in the last 15 years City are the most successful English team, winning 7? Leagues, how ever many cups and two trebles. Doesn’t say much really considering Chelsea just finished 12th with a £70 million keeper, £100+ million midfielder, £60million left back, £80million centre back, that’s not even including Havertz, Pulisic, Koulibaly.

Can you tell me exactly how buying a 20 year old winger for £20 million, him having a better than 1 in 3 goal record, and then more than doubling your money isn’t spending well? Or how Cancelo wasn’t a good signing? Otamendi was signed 8 year ago, won 2 leagues and was in at least one team of the season.  The rest I’ll give you, but it’s not as if they went and spunked millions at them aside from Phillips. Moreno was about £5million fuck sake
