If you actually read the Dee Spiegel stuff, there were ‘leaked’ documents as some sort of hack which have multiple versions of the same questionnaire - one which implies she said no, and one which doesn’t. 

The fact that there’s never been criminal charges or civil charges, and it was settled out of court for a relatively low amount of money makes me give him the benefit of the doubt.

NDA’s are fairly common, as are pay offs when the company isn’t actually in the wrong. It’s weighing up reputational damage, legal costs, time out of employees schedule for depositions etc vs a payout & NDA that deals with it all.  

Had to deal with it at work where someone’s been binned for gross misconduct (rightfully) which is immediate termination without notice, but rather than go through the legal hassle of an appeal / court action both parties sign an NDA and they get their ‘notice’ paid.

She brought a civil case, despite her NDA, but it was dismissed on the grounds that her lawyers relied on privileged communications between Ronaldo and his lawyers (which would seem to me to authenticate the Der Spiegel leaks, incidentally). 

He is, of course, innocent in the eyes of the law until proven guilty, but we're all entitled to draw our own conclusions and I would be surprised if her allegations aren't true. Ronaldo's lawyers clearly found them persuasive enough that it was worth the reputational damage from settling rather than having the evidence heard in court, and he seems to have preferred that reputational damage to allowing the case to go through a legal system where a rapist is overwhelmingly likely to get away with it. 

He's entitled to get on with his life a free man, but I wouldn't leave him alone with a woman.
