TartanTeddy got a reaction from Spliffy in Were Our Club Owners Complicit And/Or Aware That Pressure Would Come Upon Us For Singing Certain Songs ??
I'm sure I'll get pelters for this on here, but they've played it better in terms of messaging, majority of songs they sing (I'm no expert on their song book, so maybe some will say I don't know)  can be viewed as pro Irish, taps into the whole jolly craicster thing,  The songs we are getting pulled up for are viewed as anti catholic not pro any type of positive culture. So it's easy for people, particularly foreigners who don't understand the nuance of the politics of Glasgow, to see them as coming from a completely different place and with a completely different sense of acceptability.
The vast majority of our support are secular, most of the guys I go with who might sing some of the songs we are deemed to be in trouble for, but admit that it's simply a 90 minute thing.  For me and them, it's always been about the club first, so in all honesty none of the sanctions make a difference to how I'll follow the team, would imagine that will be true of many within the support.
For those who want to put culture first, or on equal footing, it's simply about finding songs that celebrate that culture rather than songs that are seen to be attacking the position of others. That puts the songs beyond the reach of UEFA and if we're being honest, should be how anyone promotes their beliefs

I didn't like the reduction for Old Firm games initially as I thought it would kill the atmosphere but they clearly gained a huge advantage having a full end at Ibrox whereas we were stuck in a corner at parkhead and struggled to make the same level of impact because of the location.  So having enjoyed the atmosphere and additional home support at the last couple of games, and seen them clearly lose that advantage, I'm a total convert to the reduction. Happy enough to get the traditional atmosphere at Hampden on cup semi and final days where it's 50/50..

That's totally fair enough, my original point before it was hijacked, was simply to say that Hello Hello could surely be reworked to lyrics that would be 100% acceptable (i.e. club related) because everyone  wants that back and it was something that reverberated around the ground and got the atmosphere cranked up.  The words 'hello hello' aren't and can't be banned so surely there is a way to adapt it and to bring it back
Like every fan, I just want songs that the whole support can sing. That don't end up with UEFA or the SFA sanctioning the club (and we have to believe this is the beginning of sanctions that will eventually lead to points deductions) and that define our identity as a club.  I'm fairly sure it won't be long before sanctions are in place for any song of a 'political' nature, and before others chime in, it won't be fans who determine the definition of 'political', it will be UEFA or the SFA. So surely better to be proactive in getting some of the popular songs adapted.
Probably a bit snowflakey for some, but for me the club comes first

Who says you can't???  Lots of songs about the sheep and hibs that don't need political overtones.
For me, I prefer to sing songs that get behind the team and happy enough for chants to be aimed at opposition players/teams that don't go down the political route.  I'm not Northern Irish, so a lot of those songs have always been irrelevant to me (one of the main reasons songs don't carry around the stadium is that a lot of people aren't interested in loyalist songs, certainly more so now than in the past).
If that makes me a snowflake (do people really use that term in Scotland!!), so be it, but I've been the same snowflake for the last forty years of going to games
Times are changing, better to be part of the process of change than having it enforced on us by others

No idea what political overtones you’re on about.
And aye you do sound like a snowflake, In sure you will get up and tell everybody to be quiet on sunday when the songs start you don’t like.

When the celtic fans call Neil McCann (a catholic) an 'Orange Bastard', it is a sectarian attack.
Just because Neil McCann is a catholic, and they know this, does not prove that they are not being sectarian.
They are deliberately using a known sectarian insult.
Exactly the same as calling Chris Sutton a 'Fenian Bastard'.

    My take on things
Normally around me . All the bears know the script .
When we always play our first European games . There are seats not taken by the usual people that sit there . And this  means, many seats are taken up by many newbees if you like .Guys that do not normally go to many games . I honestly think this creates a problem . It is these types of fans that don't feel the same responsibility .
They won't be back in that seat the following week so they don't necessarily give a fuck what they sing

For me this is one of the reasons the ground doesn't get particularly loud any more, too many of the songs sung by the sections that start songs are not Rangers related and many in the other stands have no interest in singing them. So it never takes of as the whole stadium getting behind the team.
I've no interest in any NI songs and never have but it seems that some want to put these before club songs - until that changes, I don't think we'll ever get the stadium to be particularly unified and no doubt will end up getting more sanctions by UEFA and eventually the SFA/SPFL
Appreciate that some see these songs as important for whatever reasons but I think sanctions are about to get real and will no doubt end up in points deductions unless people change

We desperately needed a centre half, we got two and both look excellent. Aribo is young and will grow into his position. Jones, Hastie and Stewart are decent squad players and add depth to the squad - better than we had off the bench last season.
Ojo - so far doesn't look to have added much and he certainly gives me the dfr=ear he's going to be Worral 2020 - a player we seemingly have to play!! Losing Candelas wasn'tt great, but seemed to be beyond the clubs control. Kent going was always likely to happen and was always going to have a negative impact - but again, probably beyond the control of the club.
So would hardly say botched, and the window doesn't close for a month - depending on Aribo's development adding a decent 10 and a left back would make it a decent window. Not doing that would be a major concern
On the bright side, regardless of the transfer dealings, were sitting on three points after one game whereas last season we were on here bemoaning dropping two points to an injury time goal at Pittodrie - so going to hang on to that positivity for at least a few days!! 😃

Some people don't even seem to have noticed that UK politics has shifted radically to the right over the last four decades and the pace of shift is accelerating daily!.
Nowadays if you call for decent workers' wages, or public ownership of vital infrastructure and services, or a functional social safety net to protect vulnerable people and those who have fallen on hard times, you get derided as if you're some kind of frighteningly radical far-left extremist. When did it suddenly become scary hard-left extremism to believe that all WORKERS should earn at least enough to provide for their families? Or that British infrastructure should be run by our Government and not corp orates or whats worse (like Rail) other governments NATIONAL companies! Why is it wrong to expect that sick and disabled people should be treated with some dignity and respect? or Why do we not see that health care and education are to our benefit and not commodities to be traded by the rich?
Back before the birth of the neoliberal orthodoxy of Thatcher back in 1979 these thoughts would have been considered normal, common sense, even "centrist".
Bring on independence and help stop this shift to the right!
Anyway - Any football on tonight?

I'd happily pay something for Rangers TV but not going to pay the full amount when I attend most games.
