When teams play at a decent tempo the crowd reacts and creates atmosphere. When a team plays at walking pace, as we did last night, it is hard to get at all enthused and no matter how the crowd reacts if the players are not prepared to up their effort we are not going to get a noisy Ibrox.

It was an awful performance. Players looked as though they had no confidence that they could win this game.

Teams have so much time to get their players set up to defend but now have time to take the ball off us and seem to have time and space to hurt us. My biggest issue for Sunday is the poor attitude and lack of effort from the side. These players were running over broken glass for one another last season, smashing teams right until the final whistle. I don’t think they have been tested massively this season but both sides are night and day different teams from the sides that ended the season. They have form going into the game and we’ve been massively struggling. Hopefully they get some COVID, injury and a defeat before the weekend. 

Not getting this recruitment:
Lundstram - part of a relegated Blades outfit.
Bacuna - part of a Huddersfield team that got relegated, then last term finished 6 points above the drop to League 1.
Neither exactly got ‘winner’ stamped all over them.

I rate Helander but you are  bigging him up to a ridiculous level, deliberately just so you can exaggerate your point about not thinking Goldson is good enough IMO.
He’s played a grand total of zero proper champions league games in his life, he spent the entirety of his career in Italy playing for lower end clubs and he only has a handful of caps for Sweden.
 
You are trying to make him out to be some sort of Rolls Royce, top end of a Big 5 league calibre champions league stalwart when in reality he’s every bit as unproven at that level as Goldson is.
 
 

The back 5 should be consistent and should not be changed every 2nd game otherwise we get the shambles we saw on Tuesday.

The problem is that we have few players who will command a decent fee and most of these would be badly missed especially as our standard of recruitment has been abysmal this calendar  yea.r

I’d put the same 11 out as Tuesday with the exception of Helander for Balogun.
Fuck rotating them, we need to find consistency and we need to find it quickly 

There is no need to rest players this early in the season regardless of how easy this looks on paper.
By all means introduce a good few subs for the last 30 minutes to give others the chance

Filip Helander is our best defender. 
Connor Goldson has been awful to start this season. I like big Leon but he's not at the required level for the CL. 
Gerrard needs to stop fucking around with the GK and CB positions. McGregor, Goldson and Helander has to start every single game where available. We are conceding absolute fucking shiters and the defence has to build confidence again and quickly.
If he wants to make changes it has to be Patterson for Tav or Bassey for Barisic given how absolutely fucking horrible they have both been.

What worries me is that I think we will now have to sell since we lost out on CL money and the few players who will command decent money  an not be replaced by our current squad.

The season before last the tactic of playing the ball wide for the hopeful cross to a small striker did not work. Last season high tempo good movement pulling opponents every way, fast passing, runs through the middle worked perfectly. Is it laziness or back to shit tactics?
