Sending a farewell message to the person he's worked with every day for the last 3.5 years and had the best spell with in his playing career in what is a fairly standard thing to do will rile up some up no doubt 

Gerrard been gone for 7 hours and people already screaming about what about a shambles it is that we haven't appointed anyone yet and complaining about the prospect of due diligence being done. FS 

And I don't think it will. It's purely a contingency plan and probably because the person finding out the info asked who would take charge

What? How do you get that? Your panicking for fuck all. We don't just have a plan for the next manager then appoint him. You interview candidates and whoever best suits your ethos and the team gets the job.

Gerrard is considered a success here but there's negatives to his management as well, including those mentioned about Gio above. It's also quite a generic criticism for a title challenging team, nobody will win every single game, if you don't, it's because you've struggled to break teams down and score. It's almost self-explanatory.
We've been put in a rough position here, but if we come out of it with £4m and someone equally as good, even better, then you have to say it's a win. Having said that, we are definitely more hoping that Gio (if even him) will be as good as Gerrard. We'll need to just wait and see.

Why do people keep thinking that managers who are high (rightly or wrongly) in the standings to be our next manager are going to be someone else's assistant? 
Keep seeing people saying X manager with McInnes or Davidson as assistant

Norwegian champions to Scottish Champions is about as realistic as we might expect. Especially when he's done it with a club who had never won the league in Norway and now looks on course to do it back to back. Also performing well in Europe with that club as well, topping their ECL group currently with Roma in it.

And that's fair enough, not saying you can't want him, but I think saying it's ridiculous/crazy is going a bit far. Really highly rated young manager who has achieved a lot already in what most would consider to be a natural stepping stone of a league up to ours.
We can either take a good manager from beneath us or a failing manager from above us. Gio seems to be that perfect middle ground but if it's not him then someone like Knutsen is perfectly realistic 

Okay forget Michael Beale, do you honestly think that Gerrard is worth almost twice as much money than Brendon Rodgers was?
I love Gerrard but his CV is miles off Rodgers' when he left them.

Let me put it another way.
If we were purring like a Rolls Royce and his decision was going to wreck that, I’d be raging.
But we’re all over the place at the back and a long way from our best so a refresh might not be bad news after all.

I’m pissed off but I still want him to do well. If he does well the knock on effect is a bump in our reputation too. 

We should be hoping that the perception that our job is easy and winning the league is easy changes and the only way that happens is if people leave us and do well after leaving on bigger stages.
