McCrorie is never a CB but has shown he can play well in midfield. Why not then play your 95 caps Portuguese international in the position he has all that experience in, and put McCrorie into midfield in place of Andy (had barely kicked a ball in months and couldn't get a game in Azerbaijan) Halliday?

Alves should've been on from the start he's our best CB and is very commanding in the air.  McCrorie should've been in midfield putting himself about a bit and making sure we weren't being overrun.  The line up totally fucked us.
There was no point subbing Halliday for Windass either.  When we don't have the run of play Windass is like a man down because he's a poor overall footballer with no desire to press the game when we don't have the ball.  We swapped one passenger, for another.
Taking Candeias off is baffling as he was one of the few guys who looked like they could create something.  Just an absolute shambles from beginning to end.

Why the fuck was it not Alves in the defence and McCrorie in Hallidays place? 
McCrorie isn't good enough (yet) to play there, as shown by the first goal and a couple other mistakes.

I often wonder if the interviews we did just involved talking about ideologies rather than actually understanding if the manager knew what he was talking about or was just working off of a textbook of phrases and soundbites.
It would be good to know that we actually tested knowledge and understanding of tactics.
