I know us armchair fans can make criticisms without any comeback, and it's easy to say things in hindsight. 
But it wasn't hindsight, he looked shite in his YouTube "highlights" clip. His record and everything you've said above points to him being extraordinarily poor value at around £5million. He'd practically be a shite signing on a free. I'd maybe have been satisfied with him on a free transfer as a third choice backup if we had two proper strikers ahead of him.

Why is Dessers getting it in the neck? That was *precisely* what we needed from him tonight. He played the role Morelos played for us so often in Europe. Occupied their defence, was a nuisance and absolutely ran himself into the ground. The pass for Matondo's goal is sensational

There is absolutely nothing to fear. They had a couple of chances last year - the Gakpo one when McLaughlin decided to run out into nowhere and the de Jong chance just before half-time he hit straight at the keeper.
