tommy2212 151
The word loophole keeps getting used Sounds like tax avoidance to me something which large companies specialise at for example Tesco. Infact the company i work for has recently restructure our pension payments so we pay less national insurance. The likes of the BBC and BT do the same with their employees. All these big companies use loopholes in legislation, tesco was under investigation in 2007 for tax evasion and where found not guilty as it was deemed avoidance. The very next year the government closed the loophole.
disgruntled_bear 157
Like I said, Walter and daryl are quite pally and does it not maybe look like walter has made this info available to his journo pal but asked him to sit on it to prevent any distractions from winning the league?Walter comments in today SUN... He said: "What would have happened if we'd not won the titles?"The club would maybe have been sold. There you are."Why? Because they're sitting back looking at two lots of Champions League money, aren't they?"That's 24 million quid, dead easy from their point of view."We have been disadvantaging anybody buying the club by winning. That's what we're doing."From the other side of things, they are elated aren't they?"They've got an opportunity of the Champions League money again. They're rubbing their hands." A lot of reading between the lines, Walter is a wily old fox and I wouldn't put it past him

Bluepeter9 5,167
I run a number of businesses - sometimes your tax advice and what HMRC would like you to do differs (depends on your accountant and his knowledge of tax laws ) This is (possibly) just another scaremongering / party pooping story trying to make more of something than exists. There is a saying that applies to tax (and expenses!) that says that if you claim a penny more than you are due you are a cheat and a penny less than you are due then you are a fool. With tax laws that line can be likened to the offside rule - sometimes you stray and have to be pulled back sometimes its legitimate space and you score!
