BREAKING NEWS: Sir Alex Ferguson confirms Manchester United interest in Robin van Persie

"Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we've made a bid for him," he told MUTV.

"We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There's no point talking about something that might not happen.

"There are other clubs interested in the player. We've shown an interest and that's where we're at at the moment."

You have picked 5 players none of which will be certain for a place next season. You overlook the fact that United have a very strong young team. Even with some older players the usual average age last season was early to mid 20's.

who would you play infront of Ferdinand and Evra?

Hopefully he doesn't sign for united . I hate seeing decent players sign for them bastards .

Is like to see him sign for city and for city to dominate for a good few years . Hopefully united will crumble at the same time .

If its true City are in for him then United have no chance as they can't compete with wages, just like they lost out on Hazard to Chelsea.

I hope he goes to Juve though.

Evra will start. He is still as good as most in his position. Ferdinand will be up against vidic, Jones, Evans, smalling and Baines if he signs. He is not a cert to play.

Even if Citys owners do get bored, somebody else fairly rich will buy them again anyway. Because they are now the best team in England, have a great stadium, great players and a rivalry with the biggest team in England.

Malaga have failed because they didn't get very far in the first place, they will sink back down because they didn't get near to the top.

Man City are now a big club in England even if their history doesn't say so. The next few years will only enhance them.

Don't call them a big club, one league title doesn't make you a big club.

They do if you lump enough money into them.

City are a nothing club that are lucky enough to have a blank cheque.

Money does not guarantee success as PSG have shown.

Chelsea have been up there now for near a decade winning various titles and just won the biggest of them all, so I fail to see how they are a "shite diddy club" unless people are bitter and jealous if there achievements.

In this day you require money, the right players, luck and the correct management to be successful.

At this exact moment in time, PSG are a poor example. They have had rich backers for a year and have won nothing.

A year in to Abramovic's ownership, Chelsea had also won fuck all despite spending something like £100 million on players.

Even with money it takes more than a year to build a club to upset the esthablished clubs and break in.

Chelsea were up against Arsenal, Liverpool and united who all spent money and had world class footballers, PSG play in a weaker league against lower level teams imo.

Why would Ferdinand be up against Baines?

Evra will start, yet Ferdinand will be up against Baines for a position ?

Bugger off ya pair of fannies

Was in work and typing fast. I had meant Evra would be up against Baines.
