Why Rangers can go unbeaten in Scotland this year

The Glasgow giants are one promotion away from a return to the big time and should cruise it

RAngersBIG.png

Rangers’ time in the doldrums of Scottish football is almost over but with Ally McCoist’s men odds-on to secure a top flight return Ladbrokes has made a special market available to keep things interesting.

The Glasgow giants are 4/11 favourites to win the Scottish Championship but such is the level of the country’s second tier the bookmaker is going 20/1 that the Ibrox outfit wrap up promotion without tasting a single defeat.

If Arsenal can do it against the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea south of the border, Rangers should manage it without breaking a sweat.

Here Ladbrokes News looks at their opponents for the coming year and shows why 20/1 is a fantastic price on an untouchable season for Rangers.

Alloa

While league meetings have been hard to come by the sides played in the Scottish FA Cup last year – with Rangers convincing 7-0 winners. Throw new signings Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd into the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster for the Wasps.

Cowdenbeath

The Miners last inflicted defeat on Rangers in 1949 and the most recent meeting saw them run out 5-0 losers. Having lost former Rangers prospect Kane Hemmings, who smashed 24 goals in 39 games for Cowdenbeath last term, to Barnsley Rangers should win at a canter here.

Dumbarton

Last beat Rangers in 1895 – and that’s not a typo – and were swatted aside 4-1 in their most recent meeting. The Gers may struggle at times this year but it won’t be here!

Falkirk

Rangers won their FA Cup fixture easily last year, progressing with a 2-0 victory, meaning all three of the meetings since 2012 have seen Rangers win without conceding a single goal.

Hearts

Another fallen giant in the Championship, but not one expected to give Rangers a fright. The Midlothian club lost 3-0 in their most recent game and have won just once in the last six meetings.

Hibernian

Hibs make up the trio of big names in the league but have won just once in 19 meetings with Rangers. Last time they played in the same league Rangers did the treble on them, winning 1-0, 2-0 and 4-0!

Livingston

In 15 meetings between the two clubs Rangers have won 11, with three draws and one victory for the Lions. Their most recent game was a 4-1 drubbing – in favour of Rangers – so expect more misery for the Amber Machine.

Queen of the South

Last beat Rangers in 1956 and lost their League Cup encounter 3-0 last term. Enough said!

Raith Rovers

Rovers actually enjoyed a 1-0 win over Rangers in the League Cup last year but that anomaly followed 6-0 and 4-0 losses and ended a winless streak against the league favourites dating back to 1970.

Ladbrokes seem to be way more confident of a Rangers victory in the league than half the posters on here. Why is this?

Because bookies focus on end result .They don't worry too much about the turgid garbage served up to achieve this end result :-))

Why on earth do people keep talking about Hibs and Hearts adding a different perspective etc, WE are Rangers, WE will win the league and WE will win it by a good few clear points, FFS when we were all in the top flight we easily had a better goal difference, we easily had a lot more points. They have had there squad decimated and are only just starting a re-building process, we've been there and done that and got the extra experience, we're also winners and champions not relegated rejects.

Respect totally where you are coming from but unlike the past this isnt a Rangers class squad, nor do we have a Rangers class manager. Hence the concerns.

That point has to be conceded but we are playing in the championship and this squad is good enough, we can play winning football and we have done in the league's since McCoist took over.

Except thats not the case unless we ignore our admin season.

You can ignore the admin season, I won't. It did start with a 1 - 1 draw with hertz, but it ended with us 21 points ahead of hertz, and that was after our 10 point deduction. We lost 7 games out of 38, we didn't win anything so it's hard to say it's winning football with our high standards.

Yes we won some games. Not enough. My point is we didn't play winning football as we lost the league, under mccoist.Im feeling some are over confident based on our previous head to heads, and are forgetting how poorly we have played for 2 years against some really awful teams. I reckon we wont get away with similar performances against around 4 or 5 teams this season.

Will be bust after the first game of the season

theres optimism for you lol. but have to admit the fact that they have Rangers at 20/1 to go unbeaten and McCoist to be sacked at only 5/1 tells its own story. It actually suggest that they think its much more likely we will have another fuck-up of a season than blow away all contenders. Im much more confident now that Boyd has signed he will get goals no doubt, without him I'd be worried.

LAdbrokes are forgetting one crucial factor... we have Ally as manager.

Yip, with our squad and resources it should be a worthwhile bet but with our clueless manager and apparent ineffective coaching staff it's not. In fact I think we will do well to not lose one of our first two games to be honest unless he dramatically changes his approach and selections but unfortunatly the best bet is for mcculloch to play every game this season!

Everyone keeps slating Ally, but the seem to forget that he managed us to a 4-2 win over them and a 3-2 win over them, despite going out Europe in 2011/2012. Then when we were demoted, our goal was to get back to the top and so far he is doing that.

Ally in! :ulster:

Hearts and Hibs will be vastly different prospects to last year, been impressed with Hearts signings and Stubbs has a good reputation within the game, will be interesting to what impact he will have on Hibs.

So I expect promotion but I'm hoping for a really competitive season, last two have been boring as fuck.

Competitive season would mean we lost games to keep it interesting....be honest, noone wants that.

Butcher had a good reputation within the game, too, and look what he achieved!

As soon as we get beat BP9 will be offline for 10 days.

I do apologise in advance for giving you all a conflict of interest watching us play.

Imagine betting on Rangers to get best.,..,

Anyway if Rangers go undefeated wully will be of line for 100 days - wullyRFC was offering odds of 100/1 but then crapped out when I bet a tenner but being kind I gave him a bet based on non posting on RM and I suggested 10/1 as I am kind and bet 10 days!
