RFC55 108,972
The English fans usually sing "no surrender to the ira" so its refreshing to see they've re jigged the song. Well done lads
scouseblue 145
The response to singing Rule, Britannia , the national anthem and anti-ira songs has been incredible to be honest . I can get that the media often make the point of relevance , that strangely they haven't this time given the stadium , but I certainly don't get the apologies for 'offence' ?. simplythebest 11,453
Don't think either of those articles are written by Scottish journalists to be fair.No but it can't be a coincidence that this seems to have only caused a fuss after they played in Scotland, since they sing similar stuff most games
STEPPS BOY 73,929
Those Fuckng English, singing their own National anthem at the game..I'm pyoor beelin..
Ger_onimo 20,488
The IRA: an organisation so vile that it's very existence is banned under British law. But sing a song in a British football stadium about your dislike for them and you have to apologise?!? It doesn't make any fucking sense! rbt1548 1,839
Pardon me for being cynical, but you have to wonder would the same coverage and response have been given if it was ISIS they chanted about? Somehow I very much doubt it!
Ger_onimo 20,488
Also, how do either of those journalists get through those articles without linking the anti-IRA chanting with the stadium hosting the match? We all know that the reason for there being more anti-IRA chants than usual was that they were in a stadium which has glorified (and raised money for) the same banned, murderous organisation for many years. The elephant in the room.
Brackley 1,401
Not one reference to the resounding jeering of GSTQ. Is there not some UEFA policy against disrespect to the opposing teams anthem.
B1872 20,721
I was there last night and the English fans were amazing. I'll be honest it's the first Scotland game I've been to since I was young and I'll not be back. I was genuinely torn and felt I could relate more to the English fans than the Scots. If anything it's made me realise more that I'm a Rangers fan 100% and not got anything other than a passing interest in the national team. Band of Brothers 10,303
I am fucking confused how can Fuck The Ira be a song of hate but the team that plays in that ground cannot wear a poppy or be trusted to do a minutes silence. HG5 11,114
I was stunned at how much booing there was from the home crowd when the England fans sung it.Might have expected it if it was a home game for the vermin, or were people booing just to cover the noise the England fans were making? Singing an ANTI-TERROR song is offensive in Scotland now? FUCK THE IRA, they are murdering scum, they have bombed and shot and killed hundreds of Brits, Scots included, including three young soldiers, and our media defends them? The scottish media is defending the IRA now for fucks sake, what is going on in this shitehole of a country?
