Mccoist Deserves Credit If Rangers Go Up

Recommended Posts

Bit of a mixed bag regarding Ally staying when we went into admin. Everyone who says how great it was he stayed ask yourself a couple of questions.

Would anyone else have offered him a job managing after the first season he just had as a manager.

Would he have got paid the amount he did at Rangers plus the shares for a penny scheme.

Would it be a done deal for him to go back into media as he had been replaced in the jobs he had previously so maybe that option wasn't available.

Who knows apart from Ally.

Very true, and that is the thing, no one knows but Ally.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just remember him for his playing days only. Maybe one day when we are back winning trophies again people can forget about his bad attempt at management and remember him for the legend he is.

Ofc McCoist deserves credit, whilst we had a massive wage budget he still had to steady the ship and get us winning games in difficult circumstances. He did so to the best of his (albeit poor) ability.

He will always be a legend to me, I fully appreciate he was as poor a manager as you can get but I will remember him fondly as a player and his stance as a manager in our time of need.

Little would have put away more than Boyd over this season and he is entitled to defend Ally if he wants. Maybe Ally did hold us together with his wages and his cheeky chappy persona. However, damage was done before we even left the SPL. The losses in any big challenge game where it mattered shows he never had it. Like losing to Malmo, and losing a decent lead in the SPL, and his losses in every other cup he ever tried and failed to win. It seemed there was always an excuse and something we were short of but none of the suits went short and Ally never went short and his mates never went short (except on winning really big games). Rangers do not deserve to win everything they compete in but they should be there or there abouts. History might be kind to Ally. We might remember only those goals and those moments on the pitch. Too many of us might remember it a different way, that Rangers gave more to McCoist than McCoist ever gave to Rangers.

McCoist deserves:

Legend status for his footballing career

Credit for his time as assistant to Walter

Credit for the way he held us together

Some credit for achieving 2 promotions

Criticism for his overall managerial reign

Heavy criticism for contract situation

How did Ally exactly hold us together after admin?:blink:

Because while everyone else was jumping ship he stayed and most of the players that did stay, stayed because of him. Without him we would not have had a team to field.

Ally did a great job as Little says.

Despite all the turmoil he spent millions assembling a team worth thousands, to beat teams made up of shop workers, postmen and builders.

Following this miraculous achievement, he spent even more, uncovering more dross from among the gems. This allowed him to go an entire season undefeated by a better class of shift workers. He was so successful, he didn't even have to try experimenting with the youth players.

Unfortunately someone had ripped the pages in his tactics book concerning beating full time players. In the Championship we suddenly stopped winning. A puzzled Ally was seen, standing at the touchline, arms folded, trying to work out why it wasnt going according to the script. Despite playing his pals every week, and in a rotating formation, he just couldn't get success.

Ally got incredibly frustrated by the board. Each time he progressed in a cup competition, he was told to go as far as possible to bring money in, but not to win the damned thing as the players would want more cash.

Eventually, after making promotion all but impossible, Ally answered the call of the green, (no not them) (no, not big Hauns) and left Rangers to manage the Leechgrove Garden. To give him his due, it was this decision that gave us this chance at promotion, so if we go up, in a way, it is down to Ally. 2015 is a great year in the Leechgrove garden due to a bumper harvest of tenners, twentys and fiftys every month, which looks set to continue for some time.

So cheers Ally, you truly are golden baws.

Absolute nonsense.

And he stayed to continue improving his bank balance nothing more

I guess I choose to focus on the good side and you choose to fiocus on the bad. I'm a glass half full kinda guy, I honestly believe that Ally truly loves the club and done his best.

Ally stood his ground to protect the club when under the stewardship of Craig Whyte the Charles Green. That couldn't have been easy. He helped stop title stripping for one. Even Walter and Big John walked away. He may be the worst manager we have ever seen but I kind of get what Andy little is saying.

How did Ally exactly hold us together after admin?:blink:

Green and co were ready to accept all the punishments the SPL were throwing at us, the loss of trophies etc...

Ally stormed out the room, then Green spoke to Ally and Ally told him that what was being offered to us was bullshit and managed to talk Green round to his way of thinking.

Ally saved us a lot during those turbulent times.

Things could've been so much worse.
