"After the apology was published we had to abide by it and the spirit in which it was published. Unfortunately that apology was then undermined and we had to take appropriate action"

So, sacked for deliberately undermining their employer. Nothing to do with being "intimidated" by Rangers.

Wont stop the haters though.

A Graham Spiers column published on heraldscotland in December made a claim about an un-named member of the six-strong board of Rangers.

This presented a legal issue which had to be addressed and which was discussed at length, by all parties involved.

The issue was whether we could defend in court a contentious statement and the advice given was that we could not. Finally, on clear legal advice, we were left with no option other than to apologise and seek to draw a line under the matter.

After the apology was published we had to abide by it and the spirit in which it was published. Unfortunately that apology was then undermined and we had to take appropriate action.

Our titles have a long history of supporting quality journalism and defending free speech and robust comment. This made all the more difficult the action we had to take.

While one of our advertisers is on the board at Rangers that was never an issue and we shall continue to report and comment on the pressing issues of the day without fear or favour.

Looks like the Jesuit cocksucker overplayed her hand, thinking she was bigger than her employers. Sad to say, it's a problem they all suffer from, as nothing is as big as or as important as their cause, the rhepublic of Scotland, all things oirish and the demonisation of all things Rangers.

Sad heinous, incest ridden, malcontent, illiterate scum!

See the name in the release by the NUJ - Dominic Bascombe. Says it all. Typical trade union, riddled with them.

As I said, so the kickback starts and it starts against us.

First point, it has nowt to do with Rangers. Spiers lied and a Rangers Director as the owner of another business, withdrew that businesses support.

Second point, Rangers are not her employers.

Last point, our club should take the NUJ the whole road with this and rip them a new one. I would be truly amazed and disappointed if we don't. Nip this shite in the bud and send a further message to all our lying bastard haters.

She's been party to hating Rangers, destrying the clubs brand, image, reputation and more for years.  She's made a reputation and profit from hating Rangers and writing content for like minded individuals for years.  The club defends itself for once and she plays the victim and throws the toys out over social media again.  Fuck you, Angela.

Unfortunately that True statement from the Editor in Chief will just be ignored by the mhanky hate filled rabble and the idiots that have been defending her and that odious creep will react like a 3 year old..going..."la la la la I'm not listening...la la la..!!"...and tweet more shocking lies and post sickening slurs about the Ibrox Disaster (that cnut better get his/her door booted in very soon)...

The club wasn't even defending itself against her - she choose to get involved in this and went against the direct wishes of her employer who sacked her.

The Herald and Times had announced cut backs recently and all they required to get shot of some people was any good reason.  It would appear that Spiers and Haggerty supplied the good reasons themselves.

The main regret for Spiers will be that Haggerty is getting some of 'his attention'.

Spiers who is at best, a very ordinary journalist has dined out for years for his stance on perceived sectarianism back in the day.

Can't you work it out? Why would you tempt fate by posting about a coach company having an accident?

There are no doubt genuinely mentally-sick folk lurking and reading right now and they don't need much in the way of encouragement.

Gotta admit I agree.

i don't think Wilberforce meant any harm but it was an ill-thought out thing to say

Greenslade will be pulling strings at the Granuaid, ensuring that these two are given a platform.

All this jounalistic outrage becomes contagious and spreads........

But what about the principle of a group of people (some journalists) who over a long period of time, act in concert with an apparent aim of traducing the name of the supporters of one particular football club. Some of the material or 'evidence' they use coming from directly from themselves and their accounts of such.

PMGB
AT (C4)
Roy Greenslade
etc

Is this journalism or an organised attack,.......... opportunistically looking for and/or creating & embellishing material ?

Like others I presume she is ignorant of her history, she'll just see her as a poor female journo being picked upon.

That's what I'm hoping. Ruth is the type of person who could possibly get the Tories back on track in Scotland.

Dissapointed in her but wiling to give her benefit of the doubt

Do we know what Haggerty said to get herself the chop or was just a case of getting bumped in the cut-backs and she is using that as an excuse?

More like the Herald is using it as an excuse to get rid of her.  Money's tight at the Herald and Times Group, even an HND from Cardonald doesn't guarantee a job these days : )

the paper issued an apology and withdrew the article. She came out and publically backed Spiers, therefore undermining the apology
