Who attacked Wallace, spare jail because he showed remorse.

Hibs fan who tried to punch Lee Wallace spared jail

Dale Pryde ran onto the pitch after the Scottish Cup final at Hampden.

A Hibs fan has narrowly avoided being jailed after he tried to punch Rangers player Lee Wallace during the pitch invasion after last year's Scottish Cup final.

Dale Pryde climbed over fencing, ran towards the defender, acted aggressively and tried to punch him on the body on May 21 last year at Hampden Park.

He also ran towards Rangers fans and assaulted Jordan Gilmour by punching him on the head after the match that saw Hibs beat Rangers 3-2.

The 20-year-old also pled guilty to assaulting Megan Boyd by hitting her on the body with a chair during the same incident.

Pryde from Greendykes, Edinburgh pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a charge, contrary to the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act, and the two assault charges.

Passing sentence on Thursday, sheriff Kenneth Hogg said he noted that Pryde was "deeply remorseful" although said that his actions "merited the jail".

He added: "A footballer, no matter which team they play for does not go on to a pitch to enable somebody at a later stage to run on and attempt to assault them - that's lunacy."

Pryde was made to wear a tag for three months and must stay within his house between 7pm-6am.

He was also handed a community payback order with the conditions he must carry out 250 hours of unpaid work within nine months and be supervised, and a one year football banning order.

Procurator fiscal depute Richard Hannay told the court Pryde was seen on CCTV climbing over a barrier and on to the pitch.

The prosecutor said: "He ran towards the Rangers captain Lee Wallace, acting in the manner on the charge - he attempted to punch him on the body.

"He ran towards opposition supporters, he was observed thereafter being grabbed by Rangers' security. He broke free from that and ran towards the west stand."

The court heard Pryde went on to assault Ranger supporters Mr Gilmour and Miss Boyd. He was arrested by police but later released once he had sobered up.

Defence lawyer Susan Walker said: "He's a Hibs supporter, he was overtaken by the occasion and behaved completely inappropriately. He completely accepts that."

She told the court he drank too much and had "experimented with cocaine" at the time.

Miss Walker said: "He appears to have expressed genuine remorse and shame about his behaviour."

With all the violence coming from the country's dark side that has gone unpunished over the last few years (two wee boys being glassed over the head before two separate semi-finals, for example), you can imagine some of the scenes the next time we play these horrible cunts.

And I wouldn't bother betting on who'd get the blame for it either.

I thought all the " Nothing Will Happen" crew would be proved wrong

Seriously can not believe he is not in jail, would implore TLM etc. to petition the Fiscal for a proper sentence

The same justice system that locked up big Dunc for a clash with another player you see every other weekend

The boys sorry so it wouldn't be right to jail him

Went after the captain of Rangers after a major cup final "WIN"

One of Scotlands most embarrassing court punishments ever

What an utter disgrace, Wallace should sue the cunt now that he was found guilty,  half a million in damages

Be sure of one thing,  if a Rangers fan met him on a dark night and hit him a slap that Rangers fan would get 6 months jail time

On the bright side now that they set a precedent I'm free to Karate Punch Scott Brown on the nose when we pump them out the cup next month, I'll take the 1 year banning order once I perfect my remorse detail

If we had the chance to get out of Scottish Football back in 2012 we should have taken it with open arms.

This backwater cesspit totally scunners me now. punches one guy, hits a lassie with a chair and attempts to assault a football player and gets let off.

Fuckin joke.

Rangers fan would have been locked up for 6 months just for the first assault never mind singing a song

This is Scotland in the 21st century. Man runs aggressively on to field of play with intent to assault a player, punches another man on the head and then physically assaults a random woman with a chair and receives no punishment. All the victims associated with Rangers, nothing to see there.

Wee Nicola and her husband probably loving it..............

(Obviously the law's an ass here. As guilt has been admitted can the two people assaulted now sue for civil damages ?)

drink too much alcohol

use cocaine

punch a guy on the head

hit a female with a chair

attempt to punch another person who is at their place of work (and where you have committed another offence just to get to them)

sentence is a joke. no debate.

As shocking as this is it's not surprising. As others have said if he was a Rangers fan doing that or singing tbb his arse would have been handed to him. And people try and say you can support Rangers and the scum snp? Like fuck you can, they are as much our enemies as the other scummy clubs in this country.
