Gazza1212 1,212
Without going over the top these two still represent a significant risk. Either somebody at our club has a very good understanding of what they will bring to combat the taigs or yet again we are fucking winging it going into the new season. I'm getting pretty sick and tired of seeing this type of signing year after year without even the suggestion of genuine quality coming into the club. Obviously everyone associated with us desperately wants them to succeed here but imo there still has to be some big hitters in the pipeline for us to mount a credible challenge. Fill a space in the squad with someone who is shite and pay them thousands of pounds of our money every week? No big deal though because we can send him back after a year. The Monk 3,208
Optimistic about the signing and don’t think anyone should be worrying at this stage in the window anyway. Have to say I thought the home shirt was decent when I first saw it but more and more it’s growing on me, could turn into one my favourites the past decade or so. He has some work to do on the technical side of the game, capable of really good & pretty poor aspects on the ball. However he looks superb in the tackle, big, powerful, pacey, athletic & full of energy. I agree he looks perfect for our team and especially for the type of league we play in. Don't see him getting overpowered by any of the midfielders in this league unlike most of our midfielders from last season. Good luck to the lad and hopefully he's part of a league winning team! Mark Allen said the scouting system had identified Katic and we would've no doubt pursued him this summer regardless of manager. Goldson wanted regular football after a difficult few years at Brighton which we could offer and it obviously played a big part in his decision to move here. I can buy in to the idea that Gerrard had personal knowledge of Ejaria and Sadiq and he takes a lot of credit for bringing these two promising youth prospects here. Do we know if Gerrard had personal knowledge of Coulibaly or were we scouting him anyway? Normally I'd credit any manager for the signing of a player under their reign but that changed with Pedro. JJ identified Morelos and recommended him as a signing therefore it was deemed that Pedro should be given no credit whatsoever. So if our DoF and scouting system are identifying and bringing Arfield, McGregore, and Katic here, shouldn't they get the credit? When people spoke about 'The Gerrard Effect' I was expecting a higher calibre of player coming to Scottish football that we normally could attract. All of the players we've signed so far don't fall in to that category. I don't think Rangers NEED Steven Gerrard in order to lure players here and many do the club a disservice by implying it. We're still a massive club and a global brand which is why Gerrard came here in the first place! Could you not just have said “I don’t agree” I don’t agree with you, see how easy it was. JentleJames 199
When we got beat in the 3-2 old firm game one thing that struck me was how lightweight we were in midfield compared to them, his presence will help solve that.
