Half-hearted is harsh. He didn’t go right through the tackle as he was trying to retain possession imo. In hindsight he should have taken everything.

If he went right through, with the way that ref was going, I wouldn't be surprised if he'd sent him off

Just a real unfortunate way to get injured

He’s not dead ffs. Balogun looked the part when he came on.

Think it’ll be short term anyway. Surely  the physios would’ve been able to tell straight away it wasn’t ligament damage and that’s why they allowed him to play on.

Aye the physios have the scanner on the park....

Roofs is a much bigger loss

I'm not so sure. We have cover for Roofe but like for like we have no one for Tav.

Roofe looks like a re current issue that's not been dealt with vert well by the doctors looking after him. Even if he comes back in a few weeks he will be well short of match sharpness due to the stop start run the past few months.

Shane as he's a good player but injuries were always a worry when he arrived.

If you’ve been a physio all your life you don’t need a scanner to knowledge of a player has that type of injury.

Early indications would suggest it straight away. I’m sure they’ve seen plenty before and be able to recognise the signs instantly. They wouldn’t let him play on otherwise

They need to scan it to see what the damage is, there's no way a physio can say it's ligament damage or not just by feeling his leg and talking to him for a couple of minutes.

They let him play on because he felt he could and they need to listen to the player. Hutton and McCoist, Rae and the others have said that's what it looked like.

Fair play to him for how desperate he was to play on, hoping it’s not too bad given he thought he could maybe continue did look a really sore one though

Deserves to win it on the pitch and deserves to be involved in the latter stages of Europe

You’d be hard pushed to find a player who you don’t see complete anguish on their face and subbed instantaneously when they’ve suffered  ligament damage.

There’s loads of hands on tests that doctors/physios can do to diagnose a knee injury before somebody even has a scan.

Things like the pivot shift test, lachman test, McMurray test, and anterior and drawer tests are all hands on tests that can identify various torn knee ligaments and meniscus tears.

I would go as far as to say that they already have an idea what he’s done, it’s just a case of confirming how bad the damage is.

Genuinely hope that isn’t a season ender. He deserves to be on that park the moment we seal the league title and to have to miss it would be a sickener.

Should just do what PAOK did with their captain a couple of years ago if that is the case:

Went in half hearted and it’s cost him. Think that’s going to be a long spell out as it looked bad

Really such a post of nonsense / there was nothing half hearted about how he went in ( nor anything wrong with the defenders tackle) - he went in full blast and hurt his knee in a purely sports related injury!

That’s my thinking aswell, no way would they let him try to play through it if it was as bad as some have suggested.

Either way he’ll still be there to lift the trophy cone the end of the season, and no one deserves it more.

As for Paterson, the fact he’s got to sit and watch someone else play when he should be getting a run in the team on route to winning a title is no less that the fucking idiot deserves.

Pretty sure John Greig was brought on whilst being out injured for the closing minutes of a title sealing game in 75.

Different situation here right enough , looked like a medial ligament injury, probably a month out and absolutely no chance he'll be risked before he's fit, but he'll be back for when the trophy is presented hopefully.
