CELTIC GROUP LITIGATION UPDATE

Thompsons Solicitors are pleased to confirm that Celtic Plc have indicated their intention to enter settlement negotiations within the context of the Celtic Group Proceedings Litigation.

This litigation relates to cases of historical abuse at Celtic Boys Club by convicted paedophiles, James Torbett and Frank Cairney.

Celtic Plc have not formally admitted liability or made any other formal concessions but their desire to now enter negotiations to explore the possibility of a settlement of this action has been made clear.

This means that parties will ask the Court to adjourn the forthcoming proof to allow work to be undertaken to value individual cases.

We appreciate that there has been significant public interest in this action and hope that this comment clarifies the current situation.

The most important thing is victims get proper compensation/acknowledgment.

Settle out of court but with strict NDAs etc that stop any more discussions or ramifications. 

It appears they now know they're about to get their arses handed to them and need to stop before it becomes a financial and reputational disaster for them. It's the Prince Andrew approach of paying the victims off now before it becomes a media circus. It's shite but at least the victims will receive some justice - but not enough justice will be thrown at the paedophile ring of a club.

They had stv this afternoon state that the boys club wasn't affiliated with the Club. Which is surely what the court case was going to prove.

It's another attempt to weasel out of liability. Scum.

Well David goodwillie has found it difficult to get a club despite having never been found guilty in a court of law which is what they’ll claim has never happened to them

They'll never, ever get sanctioned for this. There's no club in Scotland who has the appetite to raise that against him and we have absolutely fuck all power these days.
