The issue with barisic and the team in general last night was that they started the game properly, the second goal for example, got in behind and forced their defence to defende facing their own goal, but for some reason after lammers miss we shat the bed and went back to the tried (and failed) of playing everything in front of their defence and the crosses to an attacking defender which is easily hoovered up in europe, we watched countless teams sit deep knowing we'll just throw aimless crosses right onto their heads

Had we played even 70 odd mins like the first twenty we'd have battered them out the tie

I thought Borna was helped by having Cantwell near him who seems to demand high standards, and always makes himself available. Opposite of what he had on the left previously.

Probably because he was never in a position to. It was Souttar breaking from defence that got him in that position.

There was a few times in the second half, especially when we had the man advantage, where he could have broke down the line but instead hung back for the pass, and when he got the pass he never looked for the 1-2 to try get to the byline

Not just him mind you, the whole team stopped playing their game after lammers miss

he got into good positions a lot and twice Danilo failed to give him the ball but let's not count those.

Great first time ball in that causes problems for defenders and invites strikers to attack it , then he reverts to his habit of stopping a moving ball before playing that high looping cross that rarely works , if he even gets it past the first man . Doing my tits in now with this .

Clearly one of, if not our main, plans for creating chances is to pack the box and send cross after cross.

Send 30 crosses in and play the percentages.

Im happy enough if the majority of the crosses were like the assist for the 2nd

If between tav and Borna we put in 35 crosses a game, and 60% were of the 2nd goal the other night, thats 21 crosses across the 6 yard box, the ones defenders and keepers hate, we'd score 2 or 3 a game just from they crosses wether its a ditect assist or a rebound comes back out to someone in the box 

But we dont cross like that

Putting in that many crosses a game is easy to defend against. 

If that's all we do the opposition just need to set up to defend them. We have no variety so they know that's all we're going to do.

Its much much harder to defend against drilled low crosses across your 6 yard box than floated long cross that you can actually attack and clear, we dont do enough of the first and way too many of the second
