Just like how we scraped by Alashkert and then were in a European final later that season?

Like I said the performance wasn't great, and I do have concerns (not convinced our starting XI will be much stronger than it was last season - IMO it basically depends on how good Danilo and Cifuentes are) but the reactions of some are definitely OTT.

Sakala would have been a bigger danger than Danilo , so far this looks like another shocking signing and terrible waste of cash , time will tell.

That result on Saturday was so damaging because he’s talked the talk for months now and as soon as it was time to walk the walk he reverted to and served up the same old “type”.

It's frustrating as fuck seeing this style of play. Under gerrard and beale it only delivered one trophy yet beale seems insistent on playing it.

It's reliant on two aging fullbacks for width. It's also a system every single team in the league knows how to play against. 

The worry is beale doesn't know how to play another other way hence him doubling down. Over this last decade we've seen what happens when a manager stubbornly refused to adjust. Beale will be no different if he does the same.

We do need to be winning, even if not playing well, (Saturday was in no way acceptable) but I do think there's folk who expect the overhaul to be a finished, polished article already which is fucking mental.

They were utterly pish. Barely registered a decent shot on goal.

Problem is based on how they played and how we played, we should have had this tie to bed by halftime. Instead the tie now hangs in the balance because we aren’t clinical, have unbelievable defensive lapses just about every week, and struggle like fuck with aimless crosses and slow build up whenever a team sits in.

They were quite poor imo, if that's us a couple of year ago we're taking 4 or 5 off them last night.

Not using that as a defense, I just think we were in control of the game at that point and playing with a bit of composure. It quickly vanished after that miss and the penalty five minutes later.

Saw flashes of him last night that excite me. He is definitely direct with pace. Thought he was unlucky a few times with not being able to get the ball out of his feet. I'm not worried about him and think he'll be good for us.
