I would change formation flood midfield to at least compete. Pace to counter. Where we are as a team we can’t be so open. Aberdeen away has always been a tough fixture for us.

He cannot do it.  He is not a flexible footballing coach.  He is a stickler for the system that is agreed in conjunction with the rest of his coaching and medical staff.  He is a fucking one way robot.  I think we will be up and down all season, though maybe never bad enough to see him gone, and that is the galling thing.  It is going to be painful.

Most managers are these days.

If he picks the right players and takes the reigns off, the standard of football and results will improve.

Sterling, Kasanwirjo & Igamane are the future. Play them. Giving them the odd few minutes is hindering their progress.

He's too cautious in his approach. I get that we have had a horrific injury record, but sometimes you need to take a few risks. The poster above is right; the style of football is boring and ponderous.

A new formation is needed if only to freshen the ideas.

Rangers managers very rarely take risks, especially when under pressure, he’s got to go with what he knows & trusts.

The problem with teams in the league at the moment is negativity they view a draw against us or septic as a result so they play a 4 - 5 - 1 formation against us and at the first sign of an attack they pull back into the back 25 yards and choke the area making it nearly impossible to penetrate.

Yet we stick to the same predictable system as well which makes for boring slow football. If we changed to a 3 - 1 - 4 - 2 system where you have three full backs who are out and out defenders and a sweeper in front then four mids and two strikers gives more attacking power and better defence in the middle of the park.

                                          Butland

            Kasanwirjo           Propper         Souttar

                                        Barron

       Cerny          Hagi                 Bajrami       Jefte

                            Lawrence    Igamane

Lawrence is a brave move there.

I do agree that we need to be tactically flexible with a different formation in and out of possession. Top Euro sides do it all the time, push their full backs up to choke the space and help the press. You need pace at the back though to counter the over the top balls.

We are very slow in transition, static in possession and rigid in position.

Edit: Case in point, we had Cerny (left foot) on the right and McCausland (right foot) on the left. What would it really take for them to switch positions for 10mins and give the fullbacks something different to contend with?

Don't think there's any point discussing the manager changing tactics. Not going to happen.

Tbf 2nd half on Sun I didn't have a clue what the tactics were. Players were rotating around and at one point Barron was bursting onto a through ball, Tav at one point definitely a right midfielder.

Maybe it was rotations, maybe it was or wasn't 4231, but it was certainly confusing 😂

Think the formation stays exactly the same and players move from 1 position to the next.

Tav shifted up to the right wing when Kasanwirjo came on.

Barron was playing higher up because he replaced Diomande and Raskin was the sitter.

Still a 4231 on paper that's more like a 433 on the pitch.

Either way it's the least effective fitba we've seen.

So Barron was our no10 whilst we'd 2 no10s on the park? Smashing 😁

Pace changes everything that's what we need to target come January. 2 wingers with pace.

Provided we play fast enough for that pace to matter. Can already see Bajrami's looking for runners as soon as he gets the ball, but we're just too slow.

He wants runners running into space. He can play the ball through the eye of a needle and with perfect weight. Our other players want to stand and get the ball to feet.  It's a mixture of intelligence & ability lacking, and a bit of laziness on their parts, Bajrami is the one with the footballing know how and ability.

Its really piss poor to be honest. To get to the level they have you would expect them to have the football intelligence to be bombing into space to receive the ball. In fact to get to any serious level in professional football you would take that as a given, but for whatever reason it appears not at Rangers.

If we ever went 3-5-2 we certainly wouldn’t have Cerny as our wingback.

Could work with Sterling as the RCB and Nana at wingback, but good lordy.
