stewaj3 reacted to AGM_72 in The confidence in Michael Beale
The main issue for me is that, even with new players, I want to see some sort of indication of what we are trying to do. Nothing looks different.
As soon as we went down we were clumsily getting the ball into wide areas or wide of central areas and then floating the ball aimlessly into the box.
I can accept teething issues, I can accept things being a struggle and a grind at times - but there has to be some sort of indication of what we are trying to do and there isn't.

stewaj3 got a reaction from Bad Robot in Tillman
I have a thought on this one. So we saw Tillman clearly has potential and was one of our better players over the course of the season.
There were questions about his work rate which improved as the season went on.
Questions still exist about the big games and whether he can make an impact in them.
My question is does anyone not think Tillman is going to improve over the next 12/18 months?
I think it's a no brainer now I've sat and thought about it. Yes £5mill is a lot of money. However I can only see him going for a lot more than that.
So for the club it feels like a wise investment

Can I buy this for the game? As in.. not for the ultimate team pish?

Jack is a first pick he controlled the whole game tonight,Tillman might be the more talented but he doesn’t have the work rate to play here. Strange how people have forgot his poor performance against scum.

Glad you shared this. I mean the stats this season are something like 14 starts, taken off on 12 of those. 16 games appeared as a sub.
So I think 9 goals and 5 assists is a really good return when you consider this is a guy returning from injury...

Love some of the comments on this.
Morelos shouldnt be given a pay rise.
For him to sign on he'd need to take a pay cut.
Like anyone on here knows what he's being paid or how it compares to the rest of the squad.
At the end of the day, it's clear we are a better team with him up top, even if he's not at his best. Why would we want to let a player, some were valuing at 20 million a year and a half ago, leave for nothing?

I disagree. He certainly lacked match sharpness/ fitness having come back from surgery and missing a proper pre-season. All the players looked less fit than last season. Beale made comment about fitness levels when he came back and they all worked on it during the WC break and it shows.

stewaj3 got a reaction from falkirkNS in Lundstram
I thought after his first few performances he was miles off it. Just didn't think he was good enough and certainly not better than what we had.
I actually thought he'd played a few really good games and thought he deserved a run earlier
Then it looked he was off in January... Now I think Kamara has a fight to get that place back. Which is great news because I think Kamara has been coasting for a while and has needed competition.
Credit to him and hope he kicks on

stewaj3 got a reaction from OhW in Biggest signing in your lifetime?
For me gazza and no one's really close to that tbh.
Laudrups signing looked exciting but no where near the excitement of gazza.
I think as well, its relative to where we are at any given time. I think Ronald De Boer was an exciting name, maybe Kanchelskis to a slightly lesser extent?
Frank De Boer was a class player, but was in his latter years, similar with Caniggia.
Pedro Mendes was quite exciting for the time and given the financial situation we were in..
Recent years, I think Barton, Kranjcar and Alves were obviously big names for where we are at the time, but all disappointed.

Really enjoying the flexibility and fluidity of midfielders again.
The constant 3 CDMs moving side to side under Gerrard worked to an extent, but absolutely was not required in games like today.
Refreshing to have different formations/game plans for different teams (albeit slight changes).

stewaj3 got a reaction from Jamie0202 in Defoe
He didn't say the best he said one of the best. Which if your the 9th top scorer of all time in that league... You clearly are.
Also picking out the number of games it took him to reach that figure while he was scoring goals for the likes of Portsmouth and Sunderland... or a young lad coming through at spurs and west ham is bizarre.
Your the first person I've ever hear who has an issue with Defoe being called one of the best..
