Very likely that our CF options next year will be Danilo, Dessers and one other.

My worry is this time next year we are moaning that we have sold Dessers at a loss and our new expensive clinical striker has less goals than he did.

Looks like a dive. Wasn’t a dive. He tries to adjust his feet so that he can meet the ball in stride and somehow gets his toe stubbed in the turf.
 
I know because I watch my boy playing under 12 football and it sometimes happens there. 

I don’t watch much football outside of us these days, but Shankland has been utterly anonymous against us the majority of the time.

Shankland had chances today as well, duffed a header at the back post that he should've scored.  Thought in general he lacked composure.  
 
I think Shankland is a decent striker for Hearts, if we signed him I'd expect him to be backup, off the bench type striker - probably a better option than Roofe now given his inability to keep fit.  But there's no way Shankland is better than Dessers, you can see the clear difference in levels.

Shankland is slow as fuck with the arse the size of the Broomloan, give him 3 months in a Rangers top and we'd be moaning like fuck because he holds us back and he can't do anything against packed defences.

I wouldn't sign Shankland now.
Wanting Shankland in was very much a product of the circumstances of the time. We needed somebody in January to come in, understand the league, understand the job required and - most importantly - have the best possible chance of hitting the ground running. Shankland and maybe Miovski were the only 2 players who fitted that mould, and IMHO Shankland was most likely to fulfill that role.
Lack of goal threat, due to injury and personnel has been maybe the main reason we look to have blown the league. Dessers being unreliable and having no serious competition is part of that.
However, time moves on and the Shankland ship has sailed. We don't need him now.
Given it is a summer window, and we have the luxury of some time with going into a new season - there will be better options out there, and for better value.

Unfortunately he's too old, but on the balance he deserves another year.  
Goldson can go, Davies too.  Souttar will probably stay but we need a min of 2 new CB's next season.

Butland solid as ever.  Balogun very very good, Sterling excellent.  Diamonde, did well but could improve. Cantwell motm for me.  Dessers looks great when things come off for him like today, should've had the match ball.
 
Souttar, awful. Shouldn't play for us again.  Matondo, rubbish. McAusland... needs game time I guess but poor.  Silva, seen enough now.

Gives me hope that Clement has looked at the team and decided Goldson is a liability, previous managers wouldn't have made that call imo

Yip, that was on a par with Tavs Hamilton programme notes debacle. It was fxking Hibs we were playing that day, not peak Barcelona. Embarrassing to have players with that mentality still being here and still making the same mistakes (on the park, and in interviews/socials)

He scores plenty of goals but concedes plenty too, if we had a decent striker we wouldnt rely on him, im afraid im on the "thanks for everything but time to go" train.

Phil wasn't here for the post winter collapses of 18/19, 19/20, 21/22 or the 22/23 pre-world cup break.
We've collapsed and won 1 out of our last 5 this season.

I can't say I agree with everything he's said in his past 2 interviews but I can understand why he's saying it as he doesn't really have many viable options and is perhaps too trusting of some. But after Ross County he looked quite upset and you could see on the touchline last night he was raging. Hopefully he's now finally seeing what a shower of shite he's inherited and gets rid of them because I honestly still believe he is the man for the job. 

He's not but we all accepted the league was fucked when he came in. He got us back in it until the pressure hit of the reality of favourites then the usual players capitulated like they have done year after year.
