Anyone who scores that amount of goals in any context must be considered a good finisher As for the crack about almost half his goals being in friendlies I suppose that only leaves him 100 - 150 goals ahead. This part I do think is overstated, evading some lunging tackle is quite a lot simpler, if you are a genius, than dealing with constant pressing and the close attentions of four or five or six opposition players. Messi gets kicked plenty, but more than that, what he almost never gets is the kind of space Pele got when he set up the winner in the 1970 world cup final.
