Bakbear got a reaction from rbt1548 in The constant media pressure on VAR and referees
VAR is a bit sacrilegious to the game in my mind but the fact is, our standard of refereeing is so fucking bad that VAR is preferable. The worst part of VAR is when you score a goal and celebrate like fuck only to have a VAR check which dampens the celebration and if its chopped off then its gone and if it doesn't its just relief rather than euphoria
But the upside is that there are far more decisions getting called correctly than there was before. Ref's have far fewer places to hide now. It was easy just to pass things off as "just how I saw it".
The outrage from that bunch of fucking cheating cunts is sourced in the absolute exposure of how the poor refereeing has, for so long, favoured the safe decision. The safe decision being "call in favour of the scum and against big bad Rangers" because they know that if they do the opposite then there is a good chance they will get their windows panned in.
Inevitably the Referees will still make mistakes and they will still see things differently, that's the human condition, but it will be far less frequent and so it is proving. The faux outrage over a pedestrian win over St Johnstone demonstrates the real motivation behind their whining about VAR.... always cheated never defeated

I’m pretty pleased with VAR all in all. Gets much more right IMO.

You mean correct decisions. Hence why VAR was brought in. You sure you’re on the right forum pal?

Ref was absolutely shite. That yellow on Tillman was an outrage and some of the shit he was letting go against our players but giving to theirs. Shocking.
But equally we are so pedestrian in the middle. Lundstram needs some time on the bench. Really hope we get these new signings in quick. Plus give Lowry more game time. He looks a talent.

Also goes someway to explain why it is beneficial to the whole stinking cesspit to keep the hatred alive,... Without the hatred of Rangers Scottish Football would sink into oblivion.... "Only here to see the Rangers" ... yes, quite.

Beale would do well to make some big calls and send out a message that he has the balls to do what is right for the club
Retiring McGregor, Dropping Tav, moving Morelos on ASAP would be just the start
Sands should be sent back to his parent club, Lowry and McCann played more regularly….
aw man the list is endless

Yeah Maybe not... but I guess I was assuming that we are stuck with the current crop of players. I would far rather see our home grown talent getting time on the pitch than the likes of Sands, Matondo, and Wright. I would rather give players that might have a future here than players who won't, such as Morelos, Kamara and Kent (unless he commits to the club).
Its a topic for another thread I suppose but if we are not able to identify and bring through young players to the first team squad before their 19th Birthday then I just don't see the point in having youth teams at all. Let others develop them and we can buy them and trade them up in line with our player trading model.
Nowadays a footballer is either going to make it by 20/21 or they are not. Very few players make the break through after that point, if we are still sitting with youth players at 22 and 23 years old we aint trading them for big money and they will either sink into obscurity or hang about as a squad player ad infinitum
