Yeah his durability and mental strength attributes are better, I meant more Fil as an out and out defender is better but overall Goldson is more important to us for all of the other stuff that generally gets ignored.

I somewhat agree but maybe tip it in Goldsons favour due to his reliability. He has pretty much never missed a game for us through injury whereas Helander has had a few long term injuries now.

In fairness, in that sky sports clip defoe sounds like he was buzzing to win 55, sign the year extension to play in front of fans and is then bemused to not really get an opportunity this season under Gerrard. It does seem odd.

In retrospect it would have been great to watch but the reality is that for me last season we needed zero distractions. It was the most important season in the Club's recent history. We didn't need things that might have taken the players time or focus away from the job in hand. 
 
We have a large fanbase, and we can enlarge it by being successful first and foremost. And frankly I'm not the fussed if some dude in Hong Kong isn't watching us on Netflix. That title was for all of us who have lived and breathed the highs and lows of the last 10 years. We were there.
