Today confirmed what I'd been thinking all week, SG has improved us, made us harder to beat, the money we've spent has largely went on defenders who have been a success, but anyone who thought that this was enough to match the tarriers at their own midden was hopelessly unrealistic.
My expectations for the season haven't changed, clear blue water between us and third, closer to the tarriers and with a bit of luck a cup win, this window we've made a good start on rebuilding a team to challenge but in key areas we're woefully short of quality, a similar level of spending next summer concentrating on mid to front, quality rather than quantity will see us much closer to them,  we still have players to come in that will improve us , Grezda should provide some much needed creativity and quality and we already know what Coulibaly brings, we will get better as the season progresses.
Never good to lose them cunts but its not all doom and gloom, some perspective is required here, i have no doubt SG will learn from today and its time now to put it behind us and move on and make sure we pick full up points against every other team in this league, so much positivity and momentum has been built up around the club in the last couple of months we can't allow that to be derailed by this one game.

celtic sit really high up the park.  They press our players as soon as they get the ball, especially the back line, and have enough players in midfield to stifle our play.  We're sat so far back that celtic's defense is under no pressure whatsoever.  Brown can pick the ball up and bring it out of defence while being in about 20 yards of space every time.  That's not him being a great player, we're letting him do that.
It's not so much a change in personnel as it is a change in tactics that's required.  It's easy enough to say 'bring in Coulibaly', 'add more creativity', etc.  Nothing will change until we have the balls to get up the pitch and try and match them.
The tactics today wasn't designed to pass the ball and control the game it was a long punt up the park bypassing the midfield entirely.  Lafferty stood beside Lustig as our long ball option and that was it.  Morelos was completely isolated in attack.

Something that struck me when watching the game today. A couple of times the cameras panned in to the UFA fans and showed a girl sitting with a Steven Gerrard banner dotted with love hearts, obviously a wee soft spot for our manager. Another shot had a you boy holding up a banner in English asking for an autograph from Steven Gerrard. We have pulled of a master stroke getting this guy into our club, he is a global brand and even in some unknown area of Russia he has admirers - take a bow son and thanks for all your efforts so far.

From playing league games against the likes of Annan and Elgin to qualifying for the Europa league, the only one who's been there through it all.
