SEXY Ali Douglas is the stunning new face of Sky's SPL coverage - with ex-Celtic boss Gordon Strachan as her sidekick.

The glamorous anchorgirl, 33, has signed up for the satellite telly giant just weeks after disappearing from our screens in last month's Setanta collapse.

Former Rangers TV babe Ali will team up with outspoken Strachan, 52, in a live football line-up that's also likely to include ex-Ibrox and Scotland winger Neil McCann.

Last night, a telly insider said: "It's a coup to get Gordon back on the box - everyone enjoyed his performances as a pundit on Match of the Day 2.

"The fact that Sky's first game is his old club Celtic at Aberdeen - where he won the European Cup Winners' Cup as a player - also gives it added spice.

"And Neil's intelligence and knowledge means he can be a big asset."

Sky will show 30 SPL games next season, on top of Scotland home matches and Scottish Cup ties.

THE new face of Scottish football has been unveiled - and for the first time it's a woman.

Former children's TV presenter Alison Douglas, 34, is Sky/ESPN's choice to front their coverage of the SPL this season.

Previously, the job was a strictly male preserve with the likes of Archie Macpherson, Arthur Montford and Rob MacLean all having fronted the coverage.

But we can reveal that Douglas, who also worked on Rangers TV, has been lined up as lead presenter.

And former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan and ex-Rangers star Neil McCann are expected to join her.

Alison began with STV's children's department on Skoosh! and has been a regular in panto.

She also presented several other STV shows, including current affairs programme Seven Days and live debate show Trial By Night.

As Sky and ESPN put in the final touches ahead of the kick-off in a fortnight, the Record understands Craig Burley will be back on screens as ESPN co-commentator.

Veteran broadcaster Ray Stubbs will be involved, with Aberdonian Derek Rae commentating on the live top flight matches for ESPN.

Armchair fans will have to fork out about £9 a month to watch the 30 games ESPN will show. For now, only Sky subscribers can buy the package but talks are going on with Virgin and BT Vision .

However, those who watched Setanta through Sky will save about £4 a month over last season.

Sky also have the rights to 30 matches - including all four Old Firm games - following the collapse of Setanta.

ESPNhave promised fans their coverage will be second to none.

Communications director Damion Potter said: "ESPN are passionate about great entertainment and the SPL provides just that.

"We look forward to working in long-term partnership with the SPL."

Why the hell would they go for Strachan? Hasn't it been established beyond all reasonable doubt that neither side of the OF has any interest in what he has to say
