Popular Post Marky. 6,927
DAVID TEMPLETON admits he was desperate to sign for Rangers as soon as he heard his former club Hearts was willing to let him move to Ibrox. The winger has signed a four-year deal with the Light Blues after they agreed an undisclosed fee for him with the Edinburgh outfit.Despite a hectic 24 hours which saw Templeton score for the Jambos at Liverpool, train on Merseyside this morning then travel by bus to the capital, he hopes to play on Sunday.Whether the 23-year-old is selected for the side that faces Elgin City remains to be seen as manager Ally McCoist has to weigh up how fresh his latest recruit will be.Either way, Templeton is eager to get his Gers career underway in earnest and hopes will be high the exciting forward can make a positive impact. He told RangersTV.tv: “It has been such a long day and we came back up from Liverpool this morning then I was in at Murray Park for quite a while.“But it’s good to finally get everything done and I’m looking forward to playing for such a massive club.“I’d heard some things through the papers and stuff like that but it was only really today that I heard from my agent an offer had gone in.“Once I had come back up the road, I went to meet him and then we came here to talk to Rangers about it.“It was strange to play at Anfield last night and then speak about coming to Rangers but as soon as the offer was accepted, it was something I wanted to do.“I wanted to speak with the manager and see how things were. Now I’m really looking forward to getting started.”Having put pen to paper on a contract that ties him to Rangers until the summer of 2016, Templeton has shown an impressive long-term commitment to the club. And he is keen to help take the Light Blues back through the divisions and back to the top of Scottish football and taking advice from two of his old Tynecastle colleagues.Templeton added: “I’ve spoken to some of the boys such as Ian Black and Lee Wallace and they are loving it here.“Once I had spoken to them, I thought I wanted to be part of this and to help get Rangers back to where they belong. I’m looking forward to being part of that.“It’s a good challenge for us. I want to help the club succeed and to get back into Europe again as it should be. I’m looking forward to the next four years.” JTP, wbillyrfc1, CoatbridgeBear and 4 others

Blue Skies 31
Welcome to Rangers David and Francesco(when it goes through). Can't believe McGowan, shows a severe lack of judgement choosing a mediocre club that has never actually achieved anything, over the most successful club in the world. Thinking about it, maybe it was a lucky escape for us! ca11um
TheBoyDave 123
You know what we perhaps could have signed more players but I am happy with what we have.Dean Shiels,Ian Black,Fran Sandaza and David Templeton were top performers in Spl.Kevin Kyle is a good sub to have and if gets fit and stays injury free will be a good target man.Cribari has good pedigree and should come good,Faure and Arygiou look decent too.Lets not forget our youngsters also who should now get their fair share of game time. ca11um

AGM_72 3,633
Fantastic signing for us. I've got to say of all the names mentioned today (legitimate ones), it's the one that's surprised me the most. I didn't expect him to want to join. Very glad he has, though. csmail 53
An Exciting TalentWritten by David MelvinAn Exciting TalentALLY McCOIST is eager for Rangers fans to get a glimpse of David Templeton as quickly as possible after securing his top summer transfer target. The Rangers boss was delighted to seal a deal for the 23-year-old winger on transfer deadline day and believes he will excite the Ibrox faithful in years to come.He told RangersTV: “I’m very pleased. David has always been our number one target and we’re delighted to sign him up.“I was always confident that we would have a good chance of signing him and judging by one or two of the comments in the newspapers from him I felt we had a chance.“It’s particularly pleasing because he is coming off a couple of great performances and you could say results against one of the top sides in the English Premier League.“So we’re thrilled and one of the most important things is that we’ve signed somebody that is going to be easy on the eye for the crowd.“He’ll be a real crowd pleaser and I think he’ll entertain the Ibrox faithful for a long time.“With the exception of wee Barrie we don’t have a lot of individuals who are capable of going by players with great pace and creating chances.“David certainly does that and he’s certainly easy on the eye so I’d be very hopeful that he’d not only score one or two, but he’ll create chances too.”It has been a hectic few days for the man who scored in a Europa League clash with Liverpool at Anfield just 24 hours prior to signing his four year deal. But McCoist admits the winger is eager to get his Rangers career going and he may be set for a debut on Sunday at Ibrox against Elgin City.He added: “He looks as ready as the next man. He’s certainly looking forward to getting the boots on and playing.“Having spoken to him his natural enthusiasm comes out and that is great to see. “We’ll continue to monitor him and make our mind up but certainly on his last few performances I wouldn’t be scared to put him in that’s for sure.“If it’s possible then it would be ideal to get him involved. I’d like to get him out and show the Ibrox faithful our new signing as quickly as possible.”
