Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller: I'd love to return to Ibrox for a third spell

1 Jan 2014 07:24

VETERAN forward Miller is out of contract at Vancouver Whitecaps in July and says if he isn't offered a new deal beyond that then he would relish a return to Rangers.

KENNY MILLER has admitted he would love to go back to Rangers for an unprecedented third time.

The 33-year-old striker is under contract with Vancouver Whitecaps until July and is due to return to Canada for pre-season at the end of this month.

But if Miller is not offered anything beyond that, he has made it clear he would relish a return to Ibrox.

The former Scotland star said: “I would definitely fancy going back to Rangers. It’s something that has been talked about this year.

“It is a fantastic club. I had the most enjoyable spell of my career there.

“The place will always be close to me so it would be great to go back and play another time.

“I’m contracted until June 30 with Vancouver so until I’m told otherwise I will be heading back on a flight round about January 20.

“The summer is another matter. If nothing happens in terms of extensions and things then I will be looking for work elsewhere.”

Miller has famously crossed the Glasgow divide twice. He signed for Gers as a 19-year-old in 2000 but left for Wolves a year later before returning to Scotland with Celtic in 2006.

Following a spell at Derby, Walter Smith took him back to Ibrox in 2008 and he won three titles in a row during a hugely successful return.

Miller left for Turkish side Bursaspor in January 2011 but was tempted back to the UK by Cardiff City just six months later.

He moved abroad again a year later to play in the MLS for Vancouver and is now their highest-paid player.

Finance could prove to be a stumbling block to a third spell at Rangers for the veteran as new Ibrox chief executive Graham Wallace is promising cuts.

However, manager Ally McCoist has made no secret of his desire to bring back a striker who scored 49 league goals in 81 matches in his second spell at Gers.

And he could make his move this summer when Miller will be a free agent.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Not needed in any capacity and that's before you factor in what his wage demands would be. If McCoist did sign him then it should be on pay per play basis and even then at a basic level. Anything other than that is us simply topping up his retirement fund.

absolutely no point in signing him, even at his age he would still be on a fairly decent wage with zero sell-on value, hopefully Graham Wallace tells Ally no as costs must come down and enough money has been wasted in the last few years, although he would do us well goals-wise he would just be topping up his pension fund till he retires in a year or two

Eh?

There are RST threads awaiting answer, on here.

Your members have heard all sorts of rumours, we have asked for clarity on

The number and names of those who recently left the board (some reports are saying 5 people).

We want to know who is undertaking the investigation and what the parameters of said investigation are.

We have heard nothing and we do not have a clue what is going on.

The thread has been completely ignored by RST.

The RST website makes no reference to anything.

All we ask for is transparency.

Thanks

You seem confused.

Just so that we are on the same wavelength, can you tell me who YOU think I am?
