trueblueal 2,117
The guy has made the best of the ability he has but was never going to survive with our style of play. Good luck to him, he'd be solid signing for any Scottish side bar the top 3 or
Wearethepeople72 1,845
It's the right move. He wasn't good enough to get a fee for.
Mr Soprano 13,964
Thank you for your efforts Darren. Wully, a member on here, has organised a cheerio party for you.
G.E.C. 18,777
Replacement for Van Dijk.
1873bear 192
He must have a club lined up there's no way you would walk from a year contract. Good luck to him unless he ends up at Hibs.
LiverpoolBlue 1,395
He must have a club lined up there's no way you would walk from a year contract.Good luck to him unless he ends up at Hibs. From HIV.NET ; Darren McGregor has left Rangers by mutual consent. Get him signed up now.
cushynumber 25,178
one of the few who looked as if they actually gave a fuck last year. I thought he might have been kept for cover - obv not.
BigAmo'sThighs 848
They can take Mcgrgeor if they want, I thought Hanlon looked pretty decent for them beside Fontaine, played midfield the game against us before too. Not sure if he's a centre half or midfielder though. Was there not a rumour someone posted on here about him talking to St Johnstone?
Broxi 11,484
Disappointed he's gone. People say he was just "best of a bad bunch" or that it shows how shit we were that he won POTY but I think he was a genuinely good player for us.Wish him all the best. StuartM6 279
Hibs No offence to the guy but if he's behind Zaliukas in the pecking order I don't see what he'd add to an already woeful Hibs defense. All the best Daz. He gave a hell of a lot more than most did last year.
Jimfanciesthedude 24,547
he was the newco version of broadfoot, never stopped trying, never gave up, but just didnt look like the player we'd need in the big games
Sket 13,610
Being POTY last season was no great achievement in what was one of the worst teams we've ever had. Obviously wasn't in the gaffers plans, best for both parties that he moves on. Good luck to him.
folkestoneger 8,137
Good luck wherever you end up Darren. You were one of the only ones who seemed to give a fuck last season. Thanks for your service It's probably the right move though, he doesn't seem to be in the managers plans, and I'd imagine he is on a pretty decent wage. His wage is now off the wagebill, and we can use that money to bring in someone that suits Warburtons plans. If he was on a decent wage I doubt he just walked away without a payoff ( which unlike some sponges he would deserve) as he will be lucky to earn the same elsewhere, unless he has got a move to England in the pipelineA shame to see him go as he gave his all and done ok for us
NeoGeo7 10,518
expect another one or two of these mutual consent. Suspect we offered it to Zal and he said no.That's the problem with our leftovers from last year. They aren't in demand so no one will pay a fee for them, this saves money on the wage bill and clearly he was at least 4th choice or maybe lower.Wish him all the best, bu don't sign for hibs mate, I think he might go back to St Mirren tbh. Shuggy 1,308
Good luck, you saw the dignity and necessity of playing first team football instead of soaking up a wage.
Shuggy 1,308
I presume Rangers bought out the remainder of his contract at a discount?
RenfrewRanger 6
Shocked by that thought the big man would have been decent cover for us
SuperPapac05 3,383
Good luck to him. Like someone else said, he was the only one who looked like he gave a fuck - especially during that shambolic Old Firm game earlier this year.
ianferguson 2,619
Good luck to him. Like someone else said, he was the only one who looked like he gave a fuck - especially during that shambolic Old Firm game earlier this year. However he did sell 1st and most important goal after getting caught under the ball allowing Griffiths to head unchallenged.
trueblue68 2,497
A bit shocked by this as i thought he would have been good cover for RB.
SuperPapac05 3,383
However he did sell 1st and most important goal after getting caught under the ball allowing Griffiths to head unchallenged.True, but at least he got his act together then after and at least bloody tried. Can't be said for the other 10!!!
Paulie Walnuts 1,061
Surprised he's gone thought he would stay for cover at least. Surely we could've gotten a fee for him though, was our player of the year last season. Wish him well.

GWR1979 1,964
Quite shocked but I can imagine that Warburton has been quite clear about his intensions, The back 4 have stayed the same for the last 6 games, unless there are injury's.Good luckCan also see him going back to St Midden. brazz1972 397
Seen it on Twitter somewhere that he was paid a 1/3 of his remaining contract up front to leave. 5k a week. Probably somewhere around 80k paid to leave us and sign on somewhere like Killie for 1500 or 2k a week. He was a decent player and seems like a genuinely nice guy as well but not in the warburton mould so best to move on. Good luck to him.
