Our Shooting

I really don't think we.practice any shooting up there at auchenhowie.  Pretty much every effort we have is wide or.over the bar... how hard is it when the chips are down to tell the players that you are back in this afternoon for shooting practice like it or lump it.

Tavernier couldn't score in a barrel of fannies. Miller doesn't look interested enough to try scoring in the barrel of fannies.

Howling, awful levels of inaccuracy.

Tavernier's shooting in particular has been shocking all season. He had a hell of a strike on his last season. Think he's been taking shooting lessons from Sebo during the summer.

The only reason we won the last match was the oposition scored it !

It is scandalous what the hell do the do in training practice fuck ups and press ups etc

Tip for the next training session put two jackets down and kid on their goalposts- Its that bad do they know scoring is the aim of the game .

Halliday & Holt you two can kid on you are the goalposts for you two shouldnt be hard .

Shooting is a skill that some are good at and others are just woeful,Shooting practice is pointless as your under no pressure from defenders,On a pitch against 11 players you don't get anytime to think and have the blink of an eye at times to hit the ball first time.

In hindsight it's easy for people to sit and be critical and how we all would have buried those chances pro players miss,But for the same pro players some of the shots which fly miles past the target is embarrassing for guys that are paid thousands a week.

Our shooting is fuckin shocking.

Coos.. arse...banjo !!

Was literally just thinking of starting a thread on this. What the fuck are we doing, trying to see who can hit it the highest/widest.  18 shots tonight and only 4 on target tells a lot

We don't have players who can score enough goals in this league.  Or maybe they can and its actually down to the quality of coaching that is the problem.

Whether a matter of coaching / management or a matter of simple lack of talent for this league the problem is Warburton's.  And so far this season he is not fixing it.   Not even remotely.

There may be a lot less to Warburton than his sales pitch and management speak would have us believe.    As each game like this goes by he looks more and more like his management speak rhetoric is elbowed aside by the reality performances that are mediocre at best.   Under Warburton we are under achieving.

Obviously shooting is not practiced at Auchenowie because most of them couldn't hit a barn if they were inside it.

Defensive pressure can be applied in training, set up your defensive players versus your main goal scorers and keep them at it until they can hit the target 9 times out of 10. Simples.

The only bit of composure shown tonight resulted in a goal from McKay, I suspect there might have been a few of our players who would have tried to lash that one into the net and missed.

It's a basic skill. In training you put players under pressure and emphasise that they hit the target first and foremost.  Boys club players would be embarrassed to miss as many chances as our team does, especially by the distance that we hit that ball past or over the goal.

There's no excuse for it. Some players might be better than others at it, but for a team to have every player incapable of hitting the target 9/10 times is nothing short of embarrassing, shocking and woeful.
