Professional referees instead of VAR?

Seen as the common complain from mosts clubs in the SPFL is the referring inaccuracies and lack of consistency. Rather than paying for VAR which would cost millions to implement (not to mention paying for 3 Muppets to sit in a room at every game) would be a better return for those millions (let's argue it would cost £2M) not be to go full time with referees?

At say £40k a year for a pro ref in the SPFL that would allow 6 refs to be paid for 8 and a bit years. The money saved from the match fees they currently get could be out into the pot and lengthen that time frame.

Linesmen and the 4th Official could stay part time as there is less responsibility on them.

Thoughts?

EPL refs allegedly are on £70k why would we pay more?

They are on more than 70k.

You are asking them to give up their current job plus their Ref pay to take just 40k, well it would solve one problem we would get rid of them all really quickly.

They don't need to be better than everyone's else refs, just better than the shite they are at the minute.

Most people's concern just now isn't that theyre shite. It's that we're being reffereed to a different standard. Professionalism won't change that.

VAR is only good for occasional use as in once maybe twice in a game, imagine our games with the current refs 2nd guessing every slightly dodgy call.

The game would last for about 3 hours instead of just the 90 mins.

It's the big calls that matter the most.

VAR is needed. It's inevitable. We can't ignore technology that improves the number of calls that are made correctly.

Aye but thats only looking from our point of view. I'm on about all SPFL clubs less one should be crying out for the refs to go Pro. Once they are refereeing to a consistent standard, then there's more of an argument for us proving we are being harshly done by.

I'd imagine many of them are in careers earning more than that, with refs wages heavily supplementing it again.

It's way more than that down south.

It's the people using the technology that worries me mate.

Our review panels have multiple camera angles and still can't come to consistent decisions.
