Its just a complete lack of Confidence, the mental aspect of football is huge and once you’re in a rut it’s hard to get back out. Sometimes a change around the place, difference faces and different methods can make a massive difference. This is why when new managers arrive at clubs players all of a sudden start playing much better (look at Villa for example). The same thing happened at Rangers when Gio first arrived, Gerrard was struggling a bit in the league but Gio had us winning 6 or 7 games in a row.
