Aye. Genuinely baffling why folk even bother. The idea that a player who has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition in his early 20s (potentially ending his career before it really gets going) is ‘biting the hand that feeds him’  because the club have honoured his contract is fucking wild.

The thing that gobsmacks me most about this is how we manage to find a major red flag for a heart problem after we sign somebody.

I thought we were meant to conduct thorough medicals before we gave out contracts

How thorough are medicals before signing in regards heart conditions though? Nobody in the support has any clue what the condition actually is either. Clearly it is an issue that didn’t reveal itself straight away

Pre-contracts can be a bit different. Full medicals are often not done until the player actually moves. Prior to that they’ll usually liaise with his current club and get medical notes etc from them and maybe conduct a fairly basic medical if there are any issues already flagged. Iirc, Ofoborhs wasn’t actually detected until after his medical when players underwent their regular heart screenings

who is trying to pass things off as true?  as all I see is people posting opinions on what it might and might not mean which is what these platforms and forums are all about, surely you get this

Hopefully a lesson learned then.
When you read about some major transfers and see pictures of players taking their medicals which seem to last for days I always thought they were pretty thorough in checking everything.

There’s nothing to catch up on though is there? There’s been a couple of pictures posted last night and that’s it. Everything else is cunts just making up stories about what it may all mean

Yeah, but you don’t know that when you start wading through posts since you were last in the thread?

Be good to get a definitive statement clarifying the guy’s position.

As fas I can tell, as a support, we’ve been 100% behind the guy, hoping and wishing him the best.

But there is understandable scepticism about our medical team (and their advisers) based on recent performances.

I hope he can restart his career, probably better elsewhere given our medics can’t tell the difference between a broken promise and a broken leg.

Well his social media has caused quite a negative reaction (unwarranted or not) around Rangers. If you take his post as lashing out at Rangers (still to be convinced it is tbh) then that’s exactly what he’s doing.

As far as we know Rangers have done their bit so far in paying him, keeping his condition under wraps, and keeping him involved with the club, despite looking like he’ll never play again.

Rangers have done their bit in honouring the contract they agreed as the boy deals with a serious heart condition which may end his career. Fucking heroes to a man.

You’re making up shite scenarios when no cunt has a clue what’s actually happening

Further down you go, the less gets checked. Barca and Real might do three-day medicals (complete with photoshoot) but part of that is to appease their commercial partners with pictures of their new superstar in front of :insert medical company name here: branded boards.

and you’re completely ignoring what these platforms are about whether posts are shite or not.

no cunt knows how the club have treated him and if he’s been getting other employee assistance support or not or why he put out the post.
He’was maybe down last night mentally and thought no one was caring about him and posted the message which could be interpreted a hundred different ways, and will be. It seems to be pulled now and that them opens up more discussion or shite on why he might have pulled it.

We should honour the contract because we agreed to it. Shouldn’t we have done a proper check before signing him, though, or is that not standard practice?

Clubs only test so much when it comes to medicals. Iirc, this was discovered after his medical as the players underwent their annual heart screening (which is more thorough than the tests done at a medical)

Rangers have had problems within our medical system for decades. I remember in the 90's Simon Stainrod of all people hosting an hour long phone in radio programme discussing the amount of injuries we pick up. Of course all the other clubs have injuries and even injury crisis but we seem to take it to a whole new level. We are told one week such and such a player is out with a minor calf strain and dont see him again for six months.

And this post of yours has exactly what to do with cardiologists and experts in that field who are involved in this? What do Rangers have to do with an issue that the club doctor identified (or one of our subcontractors) once this was identified, it was passed to specialists as has been confirmed by gerrard and the club

so you’ve used this thread where the club and or sub contractor has found a heart defect that hadn’t previously been diagnosed to have a go at the club medical department?

great logic, idiot
