silly boy, he will fade into obscurity like the many Chelsea kids thus far.

Who was the last player to come through their youth system into the 1st team?

Only really John Terry jumps out.

Bad move for him and us tbf.

They don't buy youngsters to play in their first team. They buy them with the intention of developing them and selling them on to other clubs. Unless of course they uncover a real gem.

We aren't exactly amazing at bringing our youths through either, and our team is pretty pish.

Up to him really.

Chelsea move will probably set him up for life, even if he never kicks a ball for them.

Could remain at us and just be the next Gregg Wylde, just as easily as he could be a Barry Ferguson.

Bit gutted if true, as there's clear potential there.

That's how I view it

he could easily get injured and never play again. Chelsea move will financially set him up forever if things don't go right.

Cant turn down that kind of money.

Best for both parties if he signed for them/had the first option on him and loaned him back to us

chelsea will rightfully want to decide where he goes though.

Same thing will happen to the young lad dembele at them

Last time I checked, Chelsea had almost 40 players out on loan.

Yup, 36 out on loan just now.

Gilmour would be better off going to somewhere like Southampton who have a track record of producing and developing youngsters and probably don't pay them stupid money so that they keep their feet on the ground.

Lookmat Gayle look at Feruz, the next big thing that makes a big money move and fuck all happens from there, put out on loan a dozen times and fades into nothing.

That feruz has played 19 games in his career and scored none, he's now 21 and has had 3 games this season for Swindon town in League One. Gilmour should really be looking at things like this. Does he want a successful trophy laden career or a lot of money?

also if he stayed wi us until 21 or so he'd have first team experience, European experience and then a much better chance of getting a move to actually challenge for a place rather than taking a leap of faith for a big wad of cash at 15.

McEachran, Van Aanholt, Bruma, Mancienne, Kalkuta...

Chelsea most likely made a loss on all of those players you mentioned, most of them left for free or under a mil, but that wasn't your point I don't think
