I think that is a reflection on how weak our squad was last season rather than how good McCrorie was.

How the fuck can a player "regress" when he's not even on the fucking pitch?

Stagnant if not regressed if you like.

We're undeniably a better team, but when he was switched to that deep lying midfielder position last season I (and I think plenty others) thought we'd unearthed someone who will be a star for us. Very good at winning the ball back cleanly and I thought he showed he could play some forward passes too. 

He looks uncomfortable in the little game time he's had this season and unless something drastic happens he won't make it here.

No you're right, sat on the bench or in the stand instead of starting matches is not regressing, i.e. going backwards, at all. Silly me.
