Manager contracts

This isnt a sack Gerrard thread. Just to make that clear.

However, IF it turns out he's not cut out for the job, then he's on three years of a four year deal. Our clowns of a senior management team give Gerrard a four year contract for absolutely no reason other than presumably he pushed for it. Same as giving Pedro a three year deal. Warburton on three year deal then extending after one year, because what he won the championship vastly outspending every other team?

We keep tieing ourselves into managers without any pedigree on long term deals. I think it's this delusional attitude of "if we throw everything at it then it'll have to work". It doesn't work like that though.

It's been gamble after gamble on untested managers since Walter walked out of the door.

He'll get another go next season, but we've seen in this movie before and if he doesn't start the season well, he will be out.

My biggest fear as that would all but give them 10.  Really need to back Gerrard massively in the summer or cut our losses and appoint someone else.

Thing is we can't keep cutting our losses and starting again.

Money and time.

Clearly it's a hump we just have to get over - if we aren't overly progressing past where we are now, we need time to build and move forwards.

Thing is do we l, and will any manager get time to build and move on?  Any other top flight league in the world this season would have been classed as signs of improving.  Unfortunately in the bigger picture we have the 9 and then 10 to worry about so any manager who comes in is up against it straight off.

Gerrard is more of a calculated risk than an outright gamble like warburton and pedro.

What exactly is the dif between a calculated risk and a gamble??  Always thought they were the same thing.  Either way the board chances their luck with all 3 signings and hoped for the best

We need to back the team, back the club, back the people! I get f#&kin£ fed up listening to tarriers saying we walked away. We all know it's about money, nothing else. Now is the time to dig deep.

We're the one of the best supported teams in the world. How many watch our games? Imagine every one who did sent Dave King a cheque for £100. 10 in a row? Aye, right!

WATP! Let's show them. Anyone know how to start a Crowdfunding account?

He came as a recognised name in football across the globe with contacts with liverpool and across the game. More than what the other 2 had apart from experience, which is now proving crucial. It was a calculated risk and a gamble. Critical decision is now how much time he is given.

FFS - what now, sack SG? Aye,  feckin great - let’s bring back Pedro, McCall, McCoist. After all, they were brilliant for the club !!!

Our Club was shafted, down and out, and will take a couple of years to return where we should be.

We are better now than we were under Warbuton and his magic feckin hat. SG is building and although we’ve just been humped by the sheep shaggers, give him time.

He’s a rookie manager in charge of a huge club. He has to learn, I’m sure he will - his first season is not a disaster.

Or or will we sack him and replace him with ..........?(fill in name here)

For me, in all honesty I felt like, given where we are that Gerrard was the biggest gamble of them all.  If it backfires we know they walk away with 10.  But yeah agree with u regards the critical decision
