Well, it kind of is. Also, you cannot just push players out. You need to find buyers, and that isnt always easy.

If that’s the barometer for determining whether a player is good enough for us or not then we might as well put the padlock on the gates now.

How much do you think we'd get for Butland? I'm not sure we'd get anywhere near as much as what some people believe, and if that's the case, I'd rather just keep him.

The reality is that we struggle to even give away players because of the wages we pay and some are more than happy to pick up wages rather than moving on to return to playing games. In the past we spend fortunes paying off contracts to get rid of dead wood and we have limited amount of sellable assets to do a real rebuild.

The one thing that can never be questioned is the loyalty of the support. We fucking love this club more than wives, husbands, kids, anything in the whole world and that's why tensions are building. There are no players in that squad that we relate to, a board who go from disaster to disaster and are happy to play off that loyalty to make cash. That being said, they have backed managers with sub par footballers on ridiculously stupid wages

The poor performances have stemmed from us not being run properly as a club for years. Its fucking sickening. We didnt back Gerrard, he left, we didnt back Gio and he got sacked and then the board decides to let an absolute novice manager spunk money on whoever the fuck he wanted spending millions on absolute dross and then sack him, we bring in clement who starts to get a tune out of the players... title within grasp and then do not give him any backing whatsoever to get over the line. Its unforgiveable. The sooner so called Rangers men in the board room fuck off and we get in people who are actually good at running a club the better.

Tav cannot defend, Ridvan cannot defend, Barasic cannot defend just like Alexander-Arnold, Trippier, Shaw, Zinchenko, Reece-James, Chillwell etc etc.
Full back role has changed dramatically in the last 15 years, they are no longer defenders and now the trend is to try to make them additional central midfielders.
Gerrard played 4-3-3 and when our full backs roamed forward, Arfield,Jack etc slotted back to cover. This is not happening with the 4-2-3-1.  Our 2 holding midfielders play predominantly central and our 3 are happier staying up the park.
Goldson has been the one slotting across to cover for Tav which is fine if, like every other team, the other centre back and full back move across as well. However, this does not happen  and there is always far too big a gap between our central defenders especially when Souttar is there and even a straight ball down the middle over the top causes carnage in addition to the space left when  covering full backs.
If attacking full backs are our strength and a weakness then the system or mindset has to change with players more aware and willing to dovetail as a team. I feel that we have too many players who are lazy with little pride and basically not used to the mindset needed in a team that has a history and  a demand of success.

We need to sort out the midfield set up that allows Celtic, Motherwell , Hearts and even Ross County to waltz through the middle of the park  unchallenged. I keep thinking now; Walter would have sorted this shambles out.

Did not come on the forum yesterday as I was so disgusted by the team once again unable to kill off a game that should have been done and dusted.
However, there is one bright spot for the rest of the season: only one more disappointment to look forward to before the summer.

"Fact is.... arguably". Surely you see what's wrong there?
He's joint second top scorer in the league with 17 goals. He's 3rd for assists with 10. That's 27 goal contributions. We've conceded 29 goals in the league so unless you're blaming him (will not be surprised if you do) for every single goal conceded in the league this year then it's more absolute nonsense you're spouting to vindicate a dislike of him.
Please reply with the line about "how many of those were penalties".

While I agree with this we have to remember the most telling circumstances; through no fault of his he has been the captain of, let us face it, a basket case of a club in management and recruitment.
My first time at Ibrox was in 1958 so I have seen many captains like George Young, Caldow Shearer, Greig and the 80's on with Butcher, Gough, Amoruso, Ferguson etc but all these captains had a real talented team of players alongside them.. Even in the dominant Celtic years in the 60;s and early 70's we had a brilliant team with a great record apart from not winning titles.
Apart from the early to mid 80's when the club was rudderless and had a ridiculously bad recruitment record this squad is miles off the pure quality of past decades and I doubt that any one man of all our great captains could win trophies on his own with what we have now and what we have suffered in the past 12 years.
