Walter was a fantastic man manager, but I think the player psychology has changed since then.
The modern footballer is self indulgent and probably doesn't give a fuck about the team he plays for. Money and fame are the priority. Winning silverware is secondary.
Spend theirl leisure time on  PS5/twitter/Instagram and count that as a rewarding existence.
The irony of a professional player streaming FIFA is past them. As is them posting pics in Instagram in an endeavour for fame they already have.
    It's pretty pathetic imo.

Not even read the comments. Imagine it's a slagging?
Whatever people decide to think about him he, in my eyes, has been a consistent 7/8 out of ten 75% of the time since hes been here minimum. Hes had fucking outstanding games amongst that's well. Hes not perfect but he's been huge for us. Bo
    Today was a poor game.
    Focus elsewhere required.

    This part is utterly depressing.
Lammers overall record from 18/19, 19/20 & 20/21 - which covers the same period and transfer windows that Gerrard was with us - was 63 games, 24 goals and 6 assists.
With that record, even if it is heavily padded by one particularly good season in 19/20, you could at least understand why he could have been a target for Gerrard at some point during his tenure.
But look at his record in 21/22 and 22/23 - 58 games, 4 goals and 2 assists. I know stats aren’t everything and you need to do the eye test, but that’s still not enough.

I don’t even care how people want to try and justify it, but that is a stinking record and I think it’s absolutely criminal that Beale went back to a player like that two years down the line as a key target.
The fee, and I would assume wages too, were far too high for a guy who you are taking a punt on to try and help find form he’s not shown in years, especially when nobody seems to even know what his best position even is or where he fits into our team.

Del at least gets us difficult to play against. With a tactical plan. It wouldn't by my choice however Del or beale it's no even a discussion

    celtic are shite aswell.
It's absolutely embarrassing that we are worse.
The majority of fans have lost any confidence left in Beale.
Hehas to go during this break.
Get Mcinnes in and see how it pans out for rest of the season.

I struggle to see what the tactics actually are. We either put the ball wide and put in hopeful crosses to nobody, or we work the ball up to the box and try intricate 1-2s that never come off. That seems to be it.

This club simply can’t go through another rebuild to be honest. We have to bring in somebody who will get the best out of the players we have, with the odd transfer or two each window.

Spending and recycling £15m a season is mind numbing pish. Distinct lack of direction.

I would love to know what Beale actually does at the training ground. Those players out there looked completely lost attacking and defensively. The misplaced passes etc isn’t a result of gelling anymore, it’s a result of them being told positions on the park that isn’t working

That second half showing is exactly what I've been desperate to see from this new team for weeks now. It's finally coming good. Even Lammers looked good when he came on

I think some people on here need a reminder about their record and what they done in the last round, as well as the money they have spent.  We were always going to be up against it today and the players deserve a lot of credit for playing as well as they did.  So many positives from today and you would really have to be a pessimist to find any negatives from the game or the way we played.

De Jong has, and will, bully far better defenders than souttar. He's a monster at attacking the ball from set pieces. Harsh criticism tbh

Absolutely wild. Surely if we can single out his domestic record as a stick to beat him with, his European record is more than praise-worthy. For 1m he’s been an outrageous signing.

Why not? It’s a long season and we will play 60+ games. We have far too many players atm, but the bigger issue is that a lot of them lack quality.
Jack, Lundstram, Raskin, Cifuentes plus Cantwell, Dowell and Lawrence who can play in a midfield three or anywhere across a three behind a striker is the level of depth, quality and versatility that we need.

That's the issue though, aye I don't expect 6-0 every week but I do expect us out attacking teams from the 1st whistle and scoring goals, we just don't do that
We are light years ahead of teams like Hibs, we shouldn't be having 2 shots on target in a game with 1 from a penalty...infact if it wasn't for the penalty it would've been 0-0 at HT and I think we would've been under pressure early 2nd half
For the players we have, we should be more clinical, more dangerous

Well, extra time it is. Should never be in this position but despite being wasteful at time we've been really unlucky as well. Roofe'a first was harshly ruled off IMO then Roofe again was unlucky to be slightly offside when he had the ball in the net for a second time. He also hit the bar and Goldson hit the post. Commentary never mentioned it but I thought Bassey was fouled when they won the corner and Aribo I think was fouled a few moments before that in the build up.
