Jig needs to retire

I think McCulloch should be kept mainly in the middle. We have more suitable central defenders normally and he isn't required up front any more either.

I'd like to see him staying in some sort of coaching role if the existing coaching framework is retained. Obviously if things change and we end up with more money, a more specialised coaching setup could come in, instead of being almost entirely reliant on Rangers old timers, with the exception of Kenny McDowall who is a Rangers fan but played for St Mirren mainly and coached at Celtic before seeing the light.

We are lacking pace in the central positions a bit at the moment and obviously we'd struggle for pace against young, skillful teams. Our wingers and full backs have a bit of pace but most of the guys who play in central defence, midfield and up front are a bit on the slow side. Chris Boyd looked really slow against St Johnstone tonight.

In terms of cuts for next season, assuming we go up, I'd be inclined to want to cut Simonsen, Foster, Faure, McCulloch, Smith, Peralta, Shiels and at the moment, Boyd, although if he starts banging in goals big time and gets some sharpness back then it might be worth keeping him, although he looks fat and lethargic at the moment outside of easier Championship games.

He had his moments, both good and bad today. Id rather not have him in my starting lineup though. His distribution is more often than not an aimless punt up the park, he is sometimes too quick to punt the ball out the park (although I am a firm believer of safety first ) and he is to quick to back off players.

How people don't realise he effects the team is beyond me. Our defence has to sit so deep when we are attacking because of him.

No wonder we've been sucker punched so many times on the break this Season.

We can't squeeze a game when he's at the back and there's always a huge gap between defence and midfield. Watch when we are attacking and a cross goes into the box. If as usual Black and Law are forward the opposition sit a player just outside their box and most of the time the ball breaks to that player and they break away into the yards of empty space.

McCoist if he really wants to play Jig should have him sitting in that gap, which would be smaller immediately if he was in midfield.

In his defence Jig only wants to lead us back to the top nothing up with that, but his later years are failing him in a lot of occasions, if we win the championship he should do the decent thing & retire, he would be regarded as a legend forevermore if that happened. Wallace next captain.

We are too stretched as a team and jig is the primary cause as he sits too deep due to lack of pace and doesn't push his defense up far enough, quickly enough. It means our midfield have too much ground to cover and the other team have plenty of space to play in - we see this week in, week out.

I was screaming at Jig to get his defense further up the park and do it quickly, but the amount of time the defense either walks or jogs out is unbelievable, there is no pressure on the ball at all and acres of room for the other team.

Our whole team is almost stretched from 18 yard box to 18 yard box a lot rather than squeezing the play into the opposition half and as a result our forwards get easily isolated. It also a reason we put so many crosses in from deep.

Its so obvious and it isn't rocket science - its basic amateur football tactics.

I would play him in midfield he would add height and strength .He can at least win a tackle and pass the ball. He is too slow for defence and we therefore have to play too deep to cover this. At centre back I would play Zalukas when fit. His his form is poor then one of the young CB or Faure in there.

I dont think he is even close to being mobile enough to play in midfield any more. We tried it at the tail end of last season and the game just passed him by. Its time for him to hang up his boots.

He is one of our fittest and most experienced players and our captain.

Jig knows what it takes to get a team promoted as he has done it what, 3 times in his career (and counting)?

He can also play in numerous positions and scores a lot of penalties and goals from open play no matter what position he plays.

Oh, and he is hung like me. :pipe:
