MisterBlueSky 259
Ally McCoist wants the Sunderland job and a chance to link up again with the Black Cats' chief executive, Martin Bain. Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes and Burton boss Nigel Clough are the bookies’ favourites to succeed David Moyes, who quit last Monday. But McCoist, who stood down as Rangers boss in December 2014 amid the club’s financial turmoil, is an outside bet and would welcome a return to management. The ex-Scotland striker — who spent two years with Sunderland as a player in the 1980s — was assistant to Walter Smith when Bain was at Ibrox, and he remains a big admirer of the Black Cats chief. McCoist was at Sunderland from 1981-83 before becoming a star at Ibrox McCoist said: “He’s the best, believe me. He’s absolutely excellent. "One, if not the biggest, of my regrets when I was manager at Rangers was that Martin wasn’t able to stay on and I couldn’t work beside him.” The fact that Smith is advising Bain as relegated Sunderland begin to plot next season’s promotion push will do McCoist’s chances no harm. The hustler 398
McCoist got out-thought by pub team managers in Scotland's lower divisions. His credibility is zero. He more or less ran away from the Rangers job when he got found out. Even Bain wouldn't be daft enough to employ him at Sunderland
harlands plater 17,065
So Walter rates Ally as a manager and Ally rates Bain as a CEO. Where do you begin with that?
