Ace 3,643
Last night's referee blunder wouldn't have happened with VAR in play, in fact last night caps a trifecta of poor referee decisions in Europe which, if available would've or could've turned results in our favour (Morelos offside goal which was onside & Spartak goal against us which was clearly offside). We know that VAR will come to European competition soon but should it be applied to Scottish top flight & if so, would it help?
OhW 4,689
Not every team even has a proper pitch. No way we are getting VAR any time soon. billscott, Essandoh, broomloanjamie and 1 other
StaunchLondonGer 1,651
With our clueless cunt refs the game would be stopping every five minutes for a review of footage. And any game that we're in would involve the 4th official getting on the hotline to Lawwell to ask what the decision should be.
CoopsLaud 4,186
I would implement it tomorrow given the chance. Too many referees need too much help for it to be delayed. If more time and money is not going to be spent on improved training for refs then get it spent on the technology which will help them. Get it done soon as so the inevitable glitches can be ironed out immediately! cascadeshrimp and Courtyard Bear
Courtyard Bear 41,357
Group stages and knockout rounds in Europe it should be mandatory. Never going to happen in scotland we are a footballing backwater.
.Williamson. 87,119
Id be surprised if officials in Scotland know the rules of football well enough to look at a replay and make a decision Bobby Hume
Ozblue 4,332
VAR in Scottish football? These dopey fuckers at the SFA wouldn't know how to work a VCR never mind VAR. Actually, perhaps a VCR for the 4th official might be an improvement on what we have now. billscott, Terry Hurlock Loyal and Bobby Hume
eskbankloyal 19,446
To be fair Spartak would have had 2 penalties in the away game if VAR was in use. Terry Hurlock Loyal

ianb1547 3,774
We can't afford to have professional referees. We don't have goal-line technology as its not affordable. VAR? pipe dream Bearsden bear

bornabear 6,253
Var in Scotland, with our referees, a game would last longer than a round of golf ffs.
TMB 14,167
We can’t afford it here in Scotland. It should be in Europe though.
gj923 1,465
Costs too much money as the SFA have already stated. However having things like VAR could make it more attractive to TV companies to then sell the product. However given again its the SPFL they would fuck that up also. Yes it should be introduced, as for if it would help surely that depends if the ref in the replay booth is a card carrying fan of the bhoy bhuggerers? It should be in European cup competitions just now. American Football and Rugby have been using video replays for tight calls for a long time and get it right 90% of the time, unless it's Australia v Scotland in the Rugby World Cup, fucking cunt of a ref and video assistant that day. However, regularly outside of these grounds it is barely a two man crew with no live feedback (one in the gantry, and one touchline/stand at one end only) so it would be cried as unfair by almost all SPFL clubs. Never going to happen in Scotland. billscott
Ronald de Boer 26
It’s time. I know it disrupts things in the ground but it’s better to get the right decision.
simplythebestest 2,150
This would work against us. The referee would only ever use it to take a second look at the opposition's claims. And if he ever did take a second look at one of our claims, he would just find a way to blame us. They hate us. And the SFA/SPL/pundits hate us. Because they all hate us, there are no checks and balances in place. The hatred is allowed to fester and multiply. They'll just continue to use referees as a means to stop us winning any titles. Ronald de Boer 26
VAR is a must ASAP. We, more than any other club, lose out to diabolical refereeing decisions.
