Thought Duk gave him a hard time yesterday, but he never hid. He’s got a big future for us, hopefully.

Like Fergie was saying in commentary the manager took a gamble leaving us one on one at the back but he handled it well.

We should be trying to extend his deal with a decent pay rise as he has deserved it, will hopefully secure us maximum return on him when the EPL teams come with bids.

Some international recognition would help greatly, don’t know if that’s a stretch this season but he captained the 21’s earlier this season so who knows.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he made Scotland squad for Turkey game.

Fingers crossed as it definitely helped the fee when it came to Patterson.

As you said earlier in the thread we should enjoy him just now as his potential would suggest he could command a higher fee given the levels he has played at already.

Not expecting him to play tbh but i suspect they might just have him in and around squad.

Future captain, why do we wont to sell. Not every player we have with potential must be sold.

Bassey is a huge miss for us. Aribo not so much but can be replaced. Just we have not done it, lawrence possibly. Gio has been realky unlucky with injuries.

He will be sold as that’s supposed to be the trading model, with the investment going back into the squad, the lack of success in that so far is a separate issue.

The timing will be important as the EPL want players young enough so they can push their development further especially physically and athletically where our league lacks which stunts the development.

I would be ecstatic if he signed a new deal and committed longer term to the club but the reality is to fulfil his potential he will need to move on, we need to maximise that similarly to Bassey and Patterson.

We need to sell a player a season, probably even more so as we have almost a full rebuild in summer.

A rebuild is required next summer but that should not require the sale of academy players rather it is an argument for their promotion.

Other big European clubs have no problem in throwing in youngsters. Time we did the same.

How do we fund rebuild then?

If we get a Patterson type fee for him you’re an absolute crackpot if you wouldn’t accept

He’s 18 and has played about 20 games. We can’t turn down that kind of money

We need to change our mindset to match the reality of what we are and just enjoy players whilst they’re here. Any special young player will not be with us for more than a year or 2 anymore IMO.

Agreed. We have to start taking decent money when offered. Only way to fund recruitment longterm.

Could knock back £10m and a season later he’s Ross McCrorie, rather than Patterson. Seen it with Kamara, Kent and Morelos. Garbage compared with when big money offers were being talked about.

Or if we really want to adopt the “Ajax model”, we sell first team players ahead of him to give them a spot.

Good example being Patterson, Ajax would’ve likely kept him for another couple of seasons and looked to sell Tav due to his age, thereby guaranteeing Patterson the place to develop.

We aren't in a position to take risks like that

There’s been plenty interest from EPL teams even before he kicked a ball for first team.

I reckon a Patterson type fee and he’ll be gone.

I reckon a Patterson type fee and he go no probs
