Chris Jack saying Clement wants an ex-Rangers player as part of his staff.

Rangers will look to hire a coach with an affinity to the club and a knowledge of Scottish football to assist new boss Philippe Clement.

The Belgian was appointed as Michael Beale's successor on Sunday morning as he put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox.

Clement will be joined in Glasgow by Stephane van der Heyden and further announcements regarding the make-up of his backroom team are expected in the coming days as he prepares to hold talks with the interim management team of Steven Davis and Alex Rae. Goalkeeper coach Colin Stewart will be retained as part of the new-look staff.

But the Rangers Review can reveal that former Light Blues forward Thomas Buffel will not be linking up with his compatriot and taking one of the spots on Clement's staff.

Buffel had been touted for a coaching position in the hours after Clement was named as manager. The 42-year-old played under Clement during his time at Genk but won't be leaving his role with the Belgian FA to return to Ibrox.

It is also understood that Jonas Ivens and Johan van Rumst, who worked with Clement at Club Brugge and Monaco, will not be part of the staff that will get down to work at Auchenhowie on Monday morning.

How does that ruin it?

Gives me the fear that an ex-Rangers player will over complicate it.

"these games against so and so are hard, going to need to do this and that"

Doesn't need that, just let him do what's worked for him so far. God forbid he needs someone to tell him teams are going to sit in against us and make it a chore.

Feel like you’re over complicating it
