folkestoneger 9,039
Never understood why we were on the hook for this. A court tells you you cannot proceed with a contract then another court tries you for not proceeding with said contract. No wonder people say the law is an ass. That’ll be acceptable to the administrators and the club will lose a seasons worth of Castore revenue, which is a big hit but not as bad as losing the case could’ve been.  For anyone saying how could they prove the loss of earnings, we’ve literally got the Castore contract 2 seasons later proving how much revenue they could’ve brought in…. Absolutely zero chance we have settled for that much.  Zero. esquire8
Bears r us 31,318
Good to hear this has been settled, but I hope we have not had to pay too much to make that happen. Hadron Collider and HG5

I wouldn’t be so sure about doubting an agreed settlement amount of around 50% and above. The offer has to acceptable to the 3rd party claimant, after all. Unless the TP are the ones who made the offer but I suspect it was the other way around. plymouthranger

There is absolutely no chance we settled this for 4-5m.  Understanding how cases like these play out and our club… there’s just no chance at all. We likely agreed something up to £1m max.  Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s less, outside chance slightly more.  It won’t be much more.  The 9.5m headline figure in cases like these are usually pie in the sky to start with. steven33jackie 2,017
Why not just disclose the settlement figure and move on. It's going to show in the annual accounts anyway. Why is everything with this board a secret. Even transfer fees are more often than not undisclosed. Zappa6995

PromDeAnglais 6,725
A smart and well run business would have done due diligence and put mitigation in to the finances of the new contract with Castore to ensure that even if there was a breach of the previous contract, the financial reward for the new contract outweighed any potential payout to the previous manufacturer. We're not smart nor well run however so I severely doubt this happened. plymouthranger

SeparateEntityMyArse 55,327
Sad we've no battles left on the retail front. We should maybe offer Castore a Clementesque contract extension, then ditch them so we can have a much loved legal dispute. Ace 3,645
As Elite are in admin they'll have to disclose the settlement to the creditors, it'll take time but we'll find out the value.

Don't think our commercial director is going to rock the boat at all so only see us extending with Castore considering they run all merchandise. Mental that you’d not want to know. Roy Hobbs, Zappa6995 and PromDeAnglais
