This latest outburst is one of two things or, more likely, a combination of both.
Firstly, he and his kin truly believed that we were done for, at least as a serious or prolonged threat. To see their golden era ended by a resurgent Rangers has hit them so hard. A triumphant Gerrard, standing in the home dressing room with the SPFL trophy as Her Majesty looks on is a dagger through fen1an hearts. Like so many he is suffering from a football equivalent of PTSD.
Secondly, as people get older, they are more inclined to say what they really feel without the tact and diplomacy they had to demonstrate in the workplace. The filter that stopped them telling people what they truly felt is failing and the mask is slipping.
So, for me, it is a mixture of grief for the end of Rangers/Protestants being kept in their box, a fear that this period might last a while and the hatred oozing out more as he gets older, unable to stop himself.

Sounds like she's saying that because of bullies, Godley snapped and became racist and then had to explain her racism, which is a terrible thing for a woman to have to put up with. 
How is being challenged on being racist an anti-woman issue, anyway? I get it may have spawned some misogynistic comments, but that's not what she's complaining about here. Nothing a woman will do (like racism) will ever be good enough, is what it looks like she's saying.

I think Sturgeon is a little too concerned with making excuses for Godley in the interview. Effectively defends her by the 'she's a comedian that's taken a misstep' line and the charity bit. Wants to lessen the impact obviously, because it's one of hers involved and because it reflects badly on herself. If it were one of us or a Tory the tone would be unrecognisable.
Such is life these days. 

If we really have rejected big bids, huge credit to the board for their continued financial backing.
