My belief is that modern Old Firm players, and it seems to be almost exclusively ex cellic players (Hartson, Lennon, Thomson, Sutton etc), have brought more personal hatred in to the game.

(Quite ironic none of those players I named as stirring up hatred nowadays are Scottish, maybe they are just too thick to see a lot of the Old Firm hatred is based on traditional banter and are either mentally ill as in Sutton and Hartson's case, or morally bankrupt as in Lennon's case).

The only players they've had I've actually hated are McGeady, Lennon, Stokes, Hartson and Sutton.

None of them were from when I was growing up. Always hated Macari when he managed them, that kinda counts. I was a teenager then.

Today , however , is a different story and for some reason it seems to be those from outside Glasgow / Scotland that have broken that line of disrespecting your opponents.
